Woke to just below freezing conditions here in dallas and then had a no start condition in the cold. Plenty of crank but no start, could hear the fuel pump humming and everything. Took the truck to work and came back later to troubleshoot. Battery had 12.3v, plenty of charge and only 1 year old. The temp at the time had risen to 46F. Car started up without any fuss. I'm running 5w40 synthetic that was changed 2000 miles ago. Dipstick had a little milky color to it bit I dont get many highway miles so probably moisture in the oil pan. Just a strange morning.

Look up the voltage temp chart but 12.3 is about 50% charge. Plenty to start but low for a daily driver.

Sent three front wheel hubs back until I found one FAG made in Iowa.

They never fail there and I’m on my fourth one here inNY, fifth including the E83.

It’s the potato oil they lube them with,or something, a college Professor tells me.

Whipped of the Right FWB job on the P8- in 2 hours flat - the ball joint bolt froze but Mr Dremel took it off in 3 minutes flat.

Old bearing was really gritty feel, but I still have a drumming on left turn which clears on right - maybe the rear bearing?

First forum post. My 1998 Volvo V70 XC has been a real learning experience for me as far as car repairs go. I bought it three years ago and it had a new transmission installed prior to me purchasing it. I took it on a trip across the Cascade mountains on my way to Yellowstone from Washington and burned a valve so I had the head and valves done at a shop and re-installed the head myself. During the head replacement I replaced the PCV, plugs, wires, distributor, motor mounts, new brakes and calipers, new coolant and vacuum hoses. Today I replaced the radiator and had to forfeit a small fortune for OEM cooling line clips and o-rings. The old clips were pretty mangled. Next week I am replacing the down pipe and cat-back with new o2 sensors. I accidentally tore a small hole in the down pipe at the first hanger during the head replacement trying to get the turbo hooked back up to the down pipe. It's not super loud but loud enough that I get embarrassed when I blast through the neighborhood haha. I went with an aftermarket unit for this item because $1100 seems a bit steep although at this point I've probably put $2.5K into the car that I bought for $1000. After the downpipe is installed I need to replace the power steering pump that is slowly losing fluid. The interior of this car is immaculate and the wood paneling is in perfect condition. The only issue was one rear passenger courtesy light switch was broken but a trip to the local pick-n-pull fixed that. I absolutely love this car and my kids have grown to love it also.

Welcome to MVS! Sounds like your XC has been good to you, even while putting you to work! That's how these cars work... you give them plenty of attention, and they'll last forever.

Almost bought the farm in NJ today. An RV pulling a Jeep decided he would pull off the shoulder at the I-87 I 287 split in Northern Jersey, and pulled across 4 lanes of traffic form a stop to take the other exit

Five of us locked up, three spun out , I ended up on the hashed out center median between the exits after a full ABS stop. Thank the Creator for new front disks , rotor, pads last summer. Great braking and control

Gotta love idiot drivers! People never cease to amaze me with how badly they drive... there was a huge mess yesterday as I came up to a 4 way intersection with multiple lanes and turn lanes with a dead traffic light... nobody knows the difference between flashing yellow and flashing red, apparently!

Flashing yellow - I have to pee
Flashing red - imminent core breach
