Beautiful picture, where is that in CA? And what is the zip tie fix for the A/C?
What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Uneventful oil change on the 08 S60 2.5T at 159,000 miles on a 5000 mile interval this time. I’ve put 20,000 on the car in last year and a half, most OCIs at 3000 miles as I didn’t like some of the sludge/carbon buildup. Much cleaner under the cap now.
Havoline High Mileage Synthetic Blend this time, typically run full synthetic but the 6qt box is convenient (and cheap).
08 C70 gets an oil change and a bit of diagnostics on lingering suspension noises this weekend. I suspect swaybar bushings need replaced as most other components are new.

I was just south of trinity lake when I took the photo. (Large lake in far northern California) The ziptie fix is described in this thread . Basically, the a/c clutch doesn't engage most of the time, so you can shim it closer to the electromagnet.Blacklab467 wrote: ↑17 Aug 2023, 20:35 Beautiful picture, where is that in CA? Did the zip tie rig on the AC compressor today.
Also replaced passenger side axle.
Rotated tires.
Cleaned rear brake pad and bent plate back because it was running and making noise for longer than I would like to admit. Pads and rotors need replacing- guessing as a result of a seized calliper last year that got replaced but I never replaced the disc/pad.
Old thread saved my arse, I stripped the tensioner T60 so I used the 14mm bolt head instead to remove and replace the belt. Crisis averted.

Much of my time during the job is spent hauling things up and down the stairs to the basement or in and out of the storage shed, or running back downstairs when I realize I need something else,or taking a break from standing out in the sun,or using flashlights or work lamps when it gets dark.

Drove my dad’s XC from WV to DC. Discovered an undeniable steering wheel notch/shimmy at 70-80, so I figured I’d pop the car up in my late uncle’s driveway while the parents go about their business.
At first I set eyes on the the somewhat aged control arms. Then I became suspicious of the tie rods. Eventually, I put a wrench to the tie rod and discovered a disgustingly loose nut -_-
I know this car was recently aligned at a local shop… I’m a passive guy, so I’m currently contemplating whether I mention it to their receptionist.
All in all, a great day for a hackjob mechanic! 110 heat index be damned, at least the folks won’t flop a tire anytime soon.

Made a start on cleaning the underside of the V70 in preperation for its first application of Lanoguard. For an 18 year old car it really isn't very dirty, there's none of the usual mud build up and the clean up is just to get rid of road splashes that have dirtied the underside over the years
This is before any cleaning pictures
