2005 xc90 2.5T drives like a bounce house

My 2005 w/ 2.5t is a 7 passenger version w/ the 336 mm brakes so I assume it has the stronger rear springs. At any rate, it rides fine with the novo springs and regular Sachs shocks. If anything, it's still on the firm side.

I have the same 7 passenger, but I don't know much brake rotor size. In any case the ride is unbelievable compared to the blown nivomats. I'm not pulling a trailer or hauling thousands of pounds of gear. I would honestly be fine keeping the nivomat springs. But since I have new springs I want them to go in. Even if the dampening is less than ideal it feels fine to me. If the Sachs shocks wear our faster, it's a quick job to just change out the shocks themselves.

Not necessarily. I read the suspension tag on a 2006 7-passenger with 336mm brakes and it had the lower-rated springs with Nivomat.
Again, the only way to know is to read the suspension tag. This should be done before buying new rear springs.

Again, the only way to know is to read the suspension tag. This should be done before buying new rear springs.

+1. Designed for and feel are two separate issues. For the same car one may feel it's firm while another too soft. If you buy a kit and the shocks are blown, warranty may require you to return the entire set. When it's discovered the shock were not installed with the correct springs...

At this odometer, you may as well do the front and rear suspension overhauls.

Parts are already on the shelf waiting for a free weekend. I started with the rear suspension since it was in such bad shape. Next is front struts and all the associated hardware, mounts, etc.
