Well this is interesting. I was right about there still being a leak. It appears that it's coming from the same place as before, albeit MUCH less profuse. I can't tell if the oil is dripping from between the housing and the engine, or if it's coming from out the distributor cap again. If it's from the distributor cap, I can't see how that would be, considering I replaced it with an OEM volvo seal, oiled it before installation, and installed it the same way. If it's coming from between the housing, I wonder if I installed it incorrectly when I pressed it in.

I would press part of the seal in by hand, and one side would still be out, which I could not press in by hand. I didn't have anything to make a press, so I got it in the best I could, and fastened the housing back on, since I imagined it would press the rest of the seal in since the housing did look as though it was flanged where it met the seal. I'll have to see exactly where it's leaking but if I have to tear this down again, at least I know what I'm doing this time, but will I be able to re-use the new seal or have I destroyed it by now? And did I incorrectly install the seal the first time? I tried to get a hammer in there to get it in, but there was very little clearance between the engine and radiator.

Also, Jesse, have you had any luck with this?

Thanks,
Darrell

Interesting...

It looks as though the oil is coming from between the cap and the housing, so it looks like the oil is leaking through the shaft again, which I'm not sure how that's possible...

Hopefully someone will have a suggestion lol

Thanks,
Darrell
