Here's my interpretation of a proper reset for my 2005 V50 T5. 1.) disconnect battery 2.) discharge current from the system by touching the battery cables together for 10min OR leave the positive cable on the battery with the negative cable disconnected, then step on the brake pedal. All current is now discharged from the system. 3.) turn the ignition ON to position II. 4.) first, connect the positive cable to the battery (if not already connected) 4.) next, connect the negative cable to the battery. Here is my question with the car now energized. Should the ignition be turned off? Or should the car be started from position II and driven through the relearn sequence?

The interesting thing that I have found in regards to my T-5R is the fact that an aftermarket Viper alarm unit was installed. It was in an accident, and the air bags were deployed.
As a result, I have a need to dis-connect the battery each time I park.
The SRS sensor, and air bags, seat belts... all need replacement.
( In another thread I will discuss SRS parts as to not confuse this subject).
My point being, this car starts anew each time I fire it up. The ECU learns quickly within short drives.
When I say "short" I literally mean, around the block, and to a different spot at the house. All the while though, I will let it warm to 3 o'clock before I move it.
Continue having fun.

Well the reset is free and the ECU swap may involve both software and VIDA at dealer to marry up - so I would try the cheap thing first!
