Yay, my first post! Hate for it to be negative, and I know many of these are duplicates or don't apply, but it's a rant so here goes:
Both front axles and radiator - thanks to a deer winter before last.
Pretty much every other front suspension part, which has now resulted in a new set of tires.
Rear right brake caliper - I guess all those curly metal shavings means it needs to be fixed.
REAR HATCH LATCH - totally busted, no idea how or why but hatch just hangs now, good thing it's heavy... any help on how to fix would be appreciated!
Six, count 'em, SIX ignition coils. I plan a lengthy post on the lessons learned from that fiasco. Yes I know it's a 5-cylinder.
Also, the plastic tube thingies that keep the coil wires neat have crumbled to dust and have not been replaced.
TRANSMI$$ION - basically exploded. Don't ask me why I had it replaced or how much it cost, I get sick thinking about it.
Crank seal, rear main seal, timing cover seal, antarctic fur seal, all the seals - fixed at the $ame time a$ the transmi$$ion.
PCV/oil trap- needs fixin' asap. Have been warned the positive pressure could pop my new seals, so I leave the dipstick out a little. It's worked so far, just don't tell the EPA. No comments please.
Heater core - also needs fixin' asap. BTW are coolant fumes dangerous? I get so sleepy when I drive...
Several dash bulbs.
Radio antenna connection - intermittent.
Speaker wiring - cuts out intermittently.
Driver door lock knob - whole thing fell out.
Door panel glue holding attachment brackets - had to reglue both front door panels.
Turbo rattling or whooshing, can't tell really - power lost until sound stops or it "catches," then accelerates ok. Don't know what part it is, but it ain't right.
I reserve the right to revise and extend my remarks.
Ok, somebody please explain to me why I still own this car? Even so, I still love it. I'm an idiot.

I'll add the driver's side wiper arm post (that which the wiper arm sits in and tightens down on)... the threads can wear out from readjusting the wiper arm over and over for it to make contact with the windshield- and so the wiper arm gets loose and rubs on the threads. Result is that you can't tighten the bolt down onto the arm any longer (no threads to catch). The only solution is to replace the wiper linkage or transmission. So, there is a preventative- to buy a new wiper arm when you see that that wiper arm is becoming problematic.

I got one to add. The Alarm Status indicator that sits in the middle of the dashboard right against the windshield on my V70 T5. The plastic is crumbling and it won't stay put. It appears to be sun damage to me.
I posted a picture asking what it was and got several replies from other people that had the same problem. So the housing is rubbish, but technically the part still works since the LED does emit - so does that quality as a failed part?

- Front wheel bearings
- Front control arm/ball joints (start knocking after a year or so)
- Driver's door lock pull falls down in the door panel
- Spare tire well fills with water (can not find what's causing it)
- Rear calipers freeze up if not exercised regularly with the parking brake
- Leaky seal around sunroof
- Sun-visors lose their ability to stay in up position
- Temperature sensor goes bad
- Distributor dust cap doesn't fit properly after a few years
- The flexible air inlet tube to the "computer box" under the hood cracks and falls apart
- Internal turbo oil seal/bearing leaks oil into the inlet system over time
- Automatic transmissions start shifting hard
- PCV system clogs easily
- Center console pullout cup holder breaks
- Constant replacement of rear tail light bulbs
- Passenger-side rear window motor failure
2002 S60:
- Cup holder lid in center console breaks easily if leaned on even slightly
- Driver's door lock pull falls down into door panel
- The flexible air inlet tube to the "computer box" under the hood cracks and falls apart
- Automatic transmissions start to shift funky
2000 V70 XC
- Early model AWD system breaks constantly and doesn't work right even when its new
- The flexible air inlet tube to the "computer box" under the hood cracks and falls apart
- Internal turbo oil seal/bearing leaks oil into the inlet system over time
- Plastic external oil sump cooler on back of oil pan leaks engine coolant into oil supply (2 model years only)
- PCV system clogs easily
- No oil drain-back ports in cam cover (by design) causes oil to deadhead at the rear of the cover- causing debris to coagulate and plug the ports at the rear of the camshaft bosses. Effectively starving the two end camshaft bosses to not oil as well as the front.
2002 S80 T6:
- Plastic tubes over cam cover that go from the turbos to the intercooler crack easily and leak pressure
- Oil return lines on twin-turbochargers have a tendency to plug and cause a back up of oil that eventually leak through the bearing/seal and dump raw oil into the catalytic converters.
- Cup holder in center console breaks
- Sway bar end links wear out super fast
- Plastic transmission dipstick handle snaps off way too easily

I would add to the list the following.
Driver's door catch (multiple times on my mother's 98 V70 and my sister's 98 S70)
Upper strut mounts
Rear door panel (99 V70)
Air pump SAS
ABS Module
ETM (recall fixed it)
Lower air dam (only two bolts hold it on)
Dash creeks when going over bumps

In my S70:
-FWD CV axle
-ball joint
-Canister purge valve
-Not sure if I should list as a "part" because I refuse to replace it, but the parking brake cable is frozen/rusted and is definitely "failed".
-ditto on the hoses, especially vacuum elbows and EVAP lines. Or should these now be considered "undocumented consumables" since they have become so famous in Volvo maintenance?
And 11 of the existing 21 list....
