Well, I desoldered and replaced the caps, but now I get nothing when the relay is in place. Both caps are in the correct location, with the polarity correct as well. I think I might have overheated the board and cooked it.
It'll run with the jumper in place, so I know the rest of the system is still intact (no blown fuse or fried pump).
After I shut off the car, the pump runs for a short while before shutting off. Is it okay to drive the car with the jumper installed until I can source a new relay?
Anyone have a used good one they'd sell me?
EDIT: I just took a good look at my solder joints, and I don't see any flow-through to the component side of the board, I'm going to take a shot at resoldering those joints and try again.
EDIT #2: Well, no dice on the resolder, I checked all the joints (including the others on the board), and the relay is still non-functional. Either I got bad capacitors, or I fried the board. Looks like FCP has the best price, I was planning on ordering a MAP sensor from them anyways, so I'll just add the relay to the list.

Glad you found it!!!!!
With the jumper in place, the relay will be active whenever the key is in posII. No, I would not run the engine for a long time with the jumper in place. The wire gets extremely hot, a pot hole could put you out of business, or, if in an accident, the fuel pump will not shut off until you turn the key off!
FCP wants $49 and dealer is $56:

I'm VERY cheap, and would certainly buy used, but with the issues I've been having, I think I'll spring for a new relay for piece of mind. I might even spend the extra $6.00 and get the OEM relay over the KAE.rmmagow wrote:I've had good luck with e-bay relays, buy two, different vendors.
I have had great results with my Module Master ETM but I am also having more problems with my 99 S80. After driving several miles in warmer temps, i began to have the same problems, bad idle, no power nothing above 2-3k rpms. Shut down and restarted and got home no codes, but message urgent engine maintenance message and running in limp mode. Have had great support with module masters, but am very frustrated with my Volvo. I lived in germany during the 80ies and fell in love with both BMW and Volvos. I can't believe a company with that rep has let it go down so bad. I am going to try to change the ETM relay, just fine the fuse/layout of my front fuse box.
