1994 850 temperature gauge goes up, won't start

I didnt think it was as it was so corroded.I just took the ecu out and it looked clean so I put it back in and Yes the car started weird .Has this just reset the brain or has it worked slightly loose only time will tell if the fault comes back ?

Did you disconnect the battery before removing the computer?

It's not necessary.Just make sure that key is removed from ignition.

I had this problem a while ago and took the ecu out and put it back in and it ran for 800 miles but now the problems back. If you look at the video on page 1 that is exactly what my car does when it wont start it cranks but nothing I dont even bother attempting start generally if i disconect the battery for an hour and reset the system it starts.But it hasnt today. My feeling is that i now need to change the ecu any ideas would be great

I made a mistake about this.
This IS a factory wire.Car is pre-wired for something which this car is not equipped with.

It looked to me like it is comming from positive battery terminal,but it isn't.

Car started when i put the ecu in but i did not fully insert it. There is slight degradation on the contacts when fully inserted but not sure how to clean them or the female part any ideas would be good

Not the part with removing ecu...the part with NOT insertion it fully.
