'99 V70 Heater Core Replacement

How long do these cheaper cores smell bad, on average? I just installed one a couple days ago, and it smells. Nothing I can't deal with, just enough to be annoying. It's just that "new" smell.

My Original heater core was labelled Behr, so I think they did make the originals in the 1999 era.

Mine smelled for less than a month without even washing it beforehand.

It is not as unbearable as everyone is saying.

I have smelled worse things in my life. In my cars even. Let alone some passengers.

I don't dislike the smell because it's bad, I dislike it because it's alarming. I turn on the heat and smell something, and I'm like OH GOSH ALL THE COOLANT IS IN THE CARPETS AGAIN before my brain catches up to my anxiety.

Perhaps the amount of oil on these cores varies from one to another--as does the sensitivity of some noses. The ebay core I installed didn't smell--which is lucky for me since it's my wife's car.

There have definitely been worse smells in my car. It's better smelling the new heater core than the antifreeze that was soaked into the floor.

I've been cycling through cardboard on the floor. I'm waiting until they don't soak up any more antifreeze, then taking the car to use a gas station vacuum. I'm not screwing up mine.

Smell seems about gone after a week's worth of blasting the heat whenever I drive it, which isn't very often.
