Yea it was definitely red. One thing at a time I guess. Thanks again for the replies. I'm trying to get the old starter out but all 3 bolts are in there solid.i have been using a lot of force and have bent a socket adapter and damaged 2 sockets. I doubt any cleaners will work and I'm a little hesitant to use heat around electrical stuff. Any suggestions?

Get some liquid wrench, Kroil, or PB Blaster on them and tap with hammer to help shock threads, lightly. Wait a day, repeat.

Make sure your tools are firmly seated on the bolts and fully on. They aren't that tight

Remove the intake manifold if access is poor or you can't get your tools on it.

My buddy recommended kroil but I couldn't find any, so I got liquid wrench.Yesterday I soaked the areas about 5 times over the course of 3 hrs and tried to break the bolts free in between with no luck. Finally gave it a good soak over night and hopefully this evening when I get home I will have some luck. It is a tight fit in there but I am able to get solid connection and force over the bolts. The only thing I removed was the intake hose and battery. If it comes down to it I guess I will either rent or borrow an cordless impact wrench and remove whatever I have to in order to get it in there.

The old starter is out and the new one is in. It came out after 2 overnight soakings of liquid wrench and some tool upgrades. I was able to get it done without removing the fan.
I am going to pick up some 75w80 tomorrow and top off the transmission fluid. I do not want to drive it since I don't really know how long it has been leaking or how much fluid it has lost. When I got it back from having the pcv and seals replaced they cleaned the oil pan area and the area around the passenger wheel well but driver side was still wet from the original leak (and possibly from transmission leak). Thanks for the responses, I will start a new thread for the transmission leak once I can get under the car to find out more and update this one about the oil leak.
