I'm interested to hear if anyone can speak to the quality of the Febi part. Or is Febi the OE part supplier? I need to replace this bearing on my main and backup axles.

I have a brand new Volvo one somewhere in a safe place...................! Now if I only knew where I could see if there is a makers mark on it other than Volvo. I think the original brand was SKF.

Here's my experience with the slightly incompatible Febi 9181693 bearing on a 2000 V70 axle. It fits on the axle and in the holder but the rounded edge provides less contact surface. It has seemed fine for a few thousand miles now but I haven't stress tested it. See the whole thread linked above for more.

Here are the old bearings removed from two axles. The left is from a 2000 V70 FWD NA automatic and has a cut in band near its edge. The right is from a 1999 V70 FWD NA automatic and doesn't have the cut in. Both have the flat edge which matches the carrier.

Both bearings have the FAG brand mark on the black face band.

And that gash on the left is what happens when you try to remove an axle by putting a crow bar against that black soft material and hammering; it digs in and destroys the bearing. Don't do that. If you must bang on a bearing to remove the axle, put a block of wood against one or both metal parts to spread the impact, then plan to replace the bearing because it will probably be damaged by the hammering.
