2006 XC90 2.5L 5 Cylinder - Coolant leak Topic is solved

I am not sure how bypassing any coolant line with help with the leak. Ideally I would do the following.

1. Checking where the coolant is leaking from?
2. If not just loan a Radiator Pump Pressure Cooling Leak Tester kit from Autozone for free and check. This test kit is very help fuel to see where the leak is coming without starting the car.
3. Replace hose, Gasket as needed.

Ok so here It is 2:00 AM here in Taxafornia. I actually fixed it after all. The leak was at the PCV crankcase ventilation/coolant pipe. Its the nifty pipe that costs 200 bucks and is said you have to drop the Intake manifold just to do it, Well, I didn'y, but I didn't replace it either. My leak came when the plastic tube that the hose attaches to in front of the engine broke off clean at the pipe. I cut off the fitting and pilled the hose through the opening in the manifold and there was just enough to work on easily so I could attach my bypass tube. I put it all back and ran it up to the end of the breather pipe and cut-off the hose there too. This is the one that goes to the block on the banjo fitting. I used two male male barbed fittings for each connection and it was solid. I made the mistake of assuming that all three lines remain independent in the tube. They do not. If you don't plug the lines that you just cut, you haven't stopped the leak. All the water has fun in there and then goes back to its three different directions after it's trip around the motor. Just made sense! So I rolled up some epoxy and shoved it in the two openings and put it in there like the fat man coming down a chimney, slow with a struggle... 30 minutes later and hold water fine

I am still in with the Family, I was redeemed....

At this mileage, it is BEST to replace that PCV-Coolant assembly combo.
It is about $150 for Volvo genuine part.
Better do it right than sorry.

You do NOT want an overheated engine and warped cylinder head!

I have a leak at the base of this small hose coming from the thermostat housing. The hose clamp on both ends loo to be permanent. I am sure this is the source of my leak but can't find the hose/ clamps. I am fine with buying the whole thermostat housing and gasket but I really need the hose as well. Does anyone out here have a part # for that little bugger? Thanks in advance for any and all help on this.

- That little hose is part of the PCV system piping.
You can use a generic heater hose.
However, by the time that hose leaks, you may as well do a PCV overhaul, incl that pipe combo (which is itself $150, use only Volvo part).
You probably have > 200K miles...

- The Thermostat/ECT can be replaced w/o removing the serp belt, PS Pump etc. I wrote the DIY tricks in this forum, you can search for it.
