Sorry, Bad Joke! You already thought ahead with filtering the air.callahanoffroad wrote: ↑21 Jul 2019, 06:26Yes I do. But it's not much $ to grab an universal catch can and place it in between the dip stick tube and the new intake port. Then it's just an extra, properly filtered, pcv tube that also allows you to check the oil level. #thingsyoucan'tdoonnewvolvosMoVolvos wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 23:30That idea is full of hot air and really sucks (vaporscallahanoffroad wrote: ↑20 Jul 2019, 17:32
I was thinking a fresh elbow off the plastic intake before the throttle body. Full suction ahead.). Do you think that overtime it might gum up the intake valves?
Smoking dipstick, could it be bad rings?

Okay wanted to update everyone following this thread. Pulled everything apart last night and as someone had suggested the 5/8" hose did get crushed overtime. So I replaced that hose splicing in a 3/4" copper barbed plumbing L immediately on top of the oil catch can. This should allow the hose to not kink in the future. Got it all back together only to realize that the actual problem is that these VVIS manifolds only have an opening large enough for the original tiny tube (3/8" I think). Argh.
So i routed the tube loosely over the starter and around the bottom of the intake hose. This is temporary. I think I'm going to come straight up and over the intake manifold and then back down to the flame trap as someone else had suggested.
If that doesn't work then i'm just going to grab 10' of heater hose and run a drip tube off the dipstick, run it to the back of the car, pop a filter on it and say "good enough for government work."
