Re: Problems after fuel filter replacement

I have had several cars that the Owners really didn't want to spend the money and I would tell them to do three key cycles and drive on only to have the car return to normal after a time. If something was in pump outlet check valve or on FPR seat it can wash away and it once again seals.

Why three? Is that a magic number or should it be read as a few turns?

The fuel pump runs 2 sec or little less on each key on. 3 cycles is enough to create full normal fuel pressure if there is compressable air in lines and maybe get fuel close to fuel rail where it will start with much less cranking.

I tore apart the original Bosch filter in our 1995 850 by cutting it and it had much more pleating and was far better made than a replacement Bosch filter built in 1990 on a 1999 V70 that I also cut up.

After getting holes in 2 USA made Bosch oil filters (catridge type) in succession I am convinced that some Bosch products made these days are not as good as others.

Counterfeit product maybe? I saw this documentary about piracy and it was actually scary. They are even making counterfeit medicine/drugs now!
