Hopefully we will gain some progress this fall. A full set of skins for under $300 per seat OEM factory quality is a real deal. Go ask any upholtry shop. I was quoted $950 for 2 front seats on my T-5R with me providing the alcantara. Tough business but if you want your interior to look nice, might be worth biting the bullet of the car is in otherwise good shape.
lseat.com can do T5-R covers. I know because they have the template from my car ;)
I'm pretty happy with the quality. Not sure if they are also having covid issues, I got mine a few years back.

Oh my. Two front seats covers and backs for $350.

Pricier than the junkyard route but those will look gorgeous

Can I get them in Mercedes MBTex? That stuff is indestructible with no maintenance. Seriously though, selling us leather will cause them to wear out again. I'm struggling with this because I really would like new seat covers.

It's certainly a weekend's worth of work but I would suggest junkyard seat skins as both the best quality/ cheapest option for P2 front seats. If availability of donor cars in the junkyard warrants successful harvest, usually of the passenger side skin, it's rather a pleasant and rewarding job to change these skins. I changed both the seat bottom and seat back of both my passenger and driver's side, I believe abscate has a thread on how to do it. I used a passenger back skin and put it on the driver's side, leaving a lumbar wheel hole facing the driver's side B pillar, patched it with some vinyl from the old skin and you can't even notice it.
OEM used skins will have the proper stitching and leather grain consistent with the rest of the interior and the collar will likely be more correct, I think I paid less than $60 for perfect junkyard skins sufficient to do both my seats.
If you want Atacama or other rare colours, there's probably no other options than buying new expensive skins.

Excuse me, Blacklab467, I know you're trying to make a helpful contribution, but the thread title is "*P80* replacement seat skin thread research", rather than P2. Maybe there are still good ones to be had for P2's.

The reason we're all contemplating buying new ones is that there just aren't any good ones left in junkyards. These cars are old.

Has anybody considered making patterns for the P80 seat skins so others can make new seat covers or have somebody local to them make some?
