Since I don't own the T6 version I'm not the best to give advice, but I know I've read that Volvo Cars North America is paying for transmission failures if you're under 100,000 miles. But I think you have to pay about $800-$900 for labor. There's lots of info here, and on other Volvo sites, but you may have to dig a little to find the best threads.jennelle wrote:At 65,000 miles my Volvo XC90 trans is shot. to the tune of $8-9 to repair. Dealer offering to settle at $2,500. Any suggestions?

Re: Transmission Problems
The transmission on my 2004 XC90 T6 failed in April 2013 at 79k miles. I had it towed to the dealership, and two days later, I was informed that the whole thing would be replaced free of charge under the "Volvo Goodwill Assistance Program." No questions asked. I have to say that it was refreshing to see Volvo do the right thing. Kudos to Don Beyer Volvo in Alexandria.VolvoXC90-03 wrote:The whole transmission in my 2004 volvo xc90 went and i was wondering if anyone has had the same problem.

My 2004 XC90 T6 trransmission just gave out with 98,000 miles. Do Volvo of North America still pay for replacement currently( Aug 2013) and Can I just go to any authorized dealer? I am in Southern Ca. Thank you

Speak to your local dealer about the "Goodwill assistance program" that user litecone was assisted with. and cite the case to your dealer. Also tell him you are a regular forum contributor.
If you call Volvo NA they should be able to give you the current status of that program. Then you can walk into the dealer fully armed with the knowledge.
If he doesn't want to do it place the dealership name on here. Sometimes the dealers want the cash-in-hand jobs in preference to warranty work because it takes time for Volvo to process the claim and therefore pay dealers. Understandable enough but this is poor service to customers and some end up out of pocket to the tune of thousands.
