Tonight I replaced the driver-side mirror I bashed into my trash can, and the busted passenger-side mirror I foolishly had replaced with flat glass instead of the convex, wide-angle glass.

It was dark, so I only took a pre-installation picture.

I also put a shot of lube into my hood latches once a month to keep them working smoothly.

Do you still have SAS on your V70? Search for SAS delete to see how to get rid of this before your next inspection hassle
I wasn't sure about leaving the battery connected, and I'm notoriously cautious with anything electrical, but good to know. Just hope there's no next time!

What kind of lube do you use for the latches?

The SAS delete is on my list!

Today on my '93 850 I replaced the front diskbrakes and did a renewing of the brake fluid. And unblock the backseat seatbelt.

Completed the jury rigging of the rear defrost. Hasn't worked since I bought it and last night was the first snow storm...

There is a lack of continuity on the wire. For now this will do the trick. Is it proper? No. Is it the ideal solution? No. Will it get the fricking frost and ice off? You bet!

Sometimes you just have get inventive, nice job!

I finally installed the new OEM radiator on my 98' XC on Saturday. At the same time I also replaced the starter with a Bosch rebuilt and the lower transmission cooler hose. Then the snow tires went on, right in time for the snow.
Everything looked good and there were no leaks after test driving the car yesterday, so I took it to work today, which I haven't done in a really long time.

Ouch... that picture of the trunk wiring is making my PTSD act up... I hate that harness. My trunk lock still doesn't deactivate my alarm upon unlocking. I repaired a few wires, cleaned them up all nice with some corrugated wire covering, closed the trunk, and it worked. Next day I try it again, the alarm goes off. I've given up on that.
Which reminds me I'm still wondering why my cruise control isn't working. It stopped working for some reason a while back, then last month on my way to a car meet it magically started working again. Next day it stopped and hasn't worked since. Maybe it's trunk wiring related, who knows.

Yes it is related to trunk wiring failures at least. I actually found a non fail safe mode for my cruise on my 99 when the trunk wiring took out my immobilizer, it also inhibited the clutch switch from dropping the cruise.

Looks like I might have to go back in there. Joy...

Well, at least I really don't use my cruise anyway.

540 mile grind from upstate NY to Boston, PVD, and back

God, I love the P80 seats. MassPike was slippery going out but 65 on the way back.

New headlights arrived. One good assembly, one broken - adjusters. New new driver's side on the way.

These will look great on the '99 and have to throw more light than the ones I have. One side is tipped upwards, the other downwards. The car has googlie eyes and it sucks at night.

Especially if turned right side up before installation...

Tried to fix my ECC system in my '00 V70xc.
Had no aircon coming on, but automatic heating worked fine. Especially annoying when trying to demist the windshield.
Cleaned the interior temp sensor a week ago, but kept getting the blinking orange lights on startup.
Built a 'led flasher OBD reader' as suggested for older models. Was not able to read codes but think I succeeded in resetting the system. Cleaned the sensor again. Now all seems to be well again :) no more orange lights and A/C kicks in as normal! Hope it will stay this way. Any others that did a similar fix?

This is the led code flasher that I built. I was not able to read codes, probably only works on OBD-I and not OBD2. Think I did reset the system by depressing the button for 5 seconds.
