Painting exterior with a 20 year outlook calls for quality paint that can tango with nature for 10-years. We're paying $78 for a gallon of paint that doesn't run or drip off the brush - adhesion, thickness, one-coat make the task easy - expert said use Satin.

We went with a light gray called Smoky Eyes. A bit lighter color than the previous paint. I bought the best rated latex paint and hope it is good for 20 years.

We like Benji Moore "Aura" exterior paint. Seems to hold its color.

It is Fall weather again. Our White Westinghouse W/D tangos like never before after a belt and idler pulley service; same age as our 1997 850.

New units with lights, buttons, and iPhone app features takes away the good old experience of being American - the romance of a private laundromat is priceless.

So, we're switching to the last of the Maytag with knobs, more amp, commercial grade motor, quieter and lotsa metal. The gas dryer is my favorite as I get to redo a section of the black pipe gas line - add a drop with cap to catch rust particles to satisfy city's residential code.

The playlist gets better each time, here is one >> https://youtu.be/KUwjNBjqR-c

I'll add "Nighthaws by Hopper" to screen saver to improve the private laundromat experience.

I competed the 2.5 year project of painting our house and replacing roof trim and siding under the eves. The last part finished was above the garage door where you can see the change. My wife really likes the new look.
I do still have an exterior wood door I want to replace with steel.

In 1976 or was that 77, I spent the entire summer painting our home with, if I remember correctly, Sears Weather Beater paint. Our neighbor was kind enough to provide advise. Fortunately it was a single story home. I went to Google map and found the old paint had lasted at least 30 years. Not knowing better I kept layering it as it dried too quickly during the summer. Had to make sure it flowed well and smooth for esthetics  .

As for the steel door. The door jamb is as important. I didn't go as far but all of our doors have 3 1/2 in sheet rock screws in the studs and 3 in the door. Lastly, after much research we also have the Door Club. Can leave a large crack for fresh air depending on the season. The brass are hard to come by now.

We're doing some rehab and painting window frames in a courtyard. West facing, gets beat up with afternoon sun. I'm finding it interesting that because we previously used good quality paint, it's still flexible and doesn't sand all that well. Also, some of the spackle I used to fill cracks has shrunk away from the wood. I'm just caulking it this time.

Bondo for wood is used now for cracks or you can use either silicone which is none printable or siliconized caulk which is. The bondo dries fast and sandable but best to practice with siliconized caulk before attempting the cracks.

Finished the attic above the garage. Includes 4 simple light bulb fixtures. All are in round plastic electrical boxes with the plastic fixture for a single light bulb. One fixture has a pull string and is on another circuit (breaker) while the 3 others has a 3 way switch in the attic and another 3 way switch below. Electrician says just in case you're up there and the circuit pops there is the pull string fixture for back up.

Also, put down 2 - 8 x 4 sheets of OSB for light storage and added some lumber 2 X (6 & 10) X 10, neither shown, the length of the garage to walk on.
.

Photos are of the finished Rock Wool Insulation. Everything else described above no photos taken. The home built quality is atrocious. Had to slice and dice the insulation sheets to fit. The rafters are supposed to be 24" on center but some were half to one inch off :x .

Rock wool can be nasty - gets into every pore, like superfine steel wool. Itch for days.
