Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
Man that is one clean car. I've got a set of lower control arms and ball joints for my young friends 02 XC70. Been sitting in my garage since before Christmas!! His looked worse than yours. I think he might consider doing something with them once they actually break.

I'd keep the old ones and push some new Volvo bushings into them for spares, I wish I had. What brand of LCA's did you get?

He bought them. I think they were either Lemforder or Meyle. Can't recall.

Genuine Volvo control arms are no longer available here in the UK so I spoke to my MOT tester and he recommended Lemforder or Meyle HD. I ordered Lemforder from eBay and when they arrived I wasn't happy with them. One was in a sealed package and looked legitimate but the other package was opened and had witness marks on it as if it had been handled and fitted, also the marks/stamps on the casting were different. I suspect it was a cheap Chinese part someone had possibly swapped out and returned. I rejected them and had my MOT guy order them for me. I am very suspicious buying from eBay and Amazon, there are more fake on these platform now than ever so I would rather pay a bit more and source it from a reliable retailerBlacklab467 wrote: ↑18 Mar 2025, 19:11 I'd keep the old ones and push some new Volvo bushings into them for spares, I wish I had. The replacement transmission while whining in certain situations, sounds like internal bearings(hopefully not transmission pump) shifts much better than the old one, especially 2-3. But it does shift better when hot, than when cold, I think.

The temperature was -4°C this morning so I went out at 6:00am and put the heater on in the garage. 3 hours later it was almost too warm to work. Rear wheels changed so now have my refurbished Thors with summer Goodyear tyres on
When I bought the car I noticed it had a new front wheel bearing fitted and a bodge of two nuts together on the track rod end. I can only assume whoever did the bearing made a mess of removing the TRE nut and never had a replacement nylon lock nut so put two plain nuts on instead.
So this morning I decided to sort that out as it was making my OCD twitch...
Went for a short drive and when I returned I did a quick check to make sure everything was nice and tight.
Finished off by washing the winter wheels and leaving them to dry in the sunshine

Those refurbished rims look really good. Even the winter ones look great. Don't you just love those bodges!

I think those tyres are getting wetter. Does it rain in Scotland when the sun is out?
