i'm going to look closely at the neo-wedge filament bulbs with the blue filter in the CCM and key ringlight and also test out some replacements as well, but so far Digikey only has Clear or White filtered neo-wedges. gotta look elsewhere. they come in three different colors on my XC; white, grey, and black. i'm wondering what the difference is, if it even exists. i'll find out when I get the CCM out again to replace the thermister.

went on Digikey and bought some components today: replacement Thermister which is the CCM cabin air temp. sensor, and a bunch of LEDs to test out on the DIM, since mine were scraped off by someone before I bought the car. Testing clear vs. diffused red and orange (not amber) LED chips to see which one fits in best with the other OEM chips. should ship in 4 days or so.

I always just replaced the neo-wedge bulbs with incandescent and transferred the old "sock" off the old onto the new.
Sorry noticed it's DIM lights you're replacing not the CCM ones. I shouldn't browse MVS at work.

are they that bad? I had an opportunity to look at an allroad audi that looked really nice. only chronic issue I saw with this group of vehicles is that the intake valves get horrible carbon buildup and require a walnut blast every 50k miles which seemed like a horrible way to spend $1000 every 2 years.

The first gen Allroad? They were NOTORIOUS for lack of reliability, one of the worst. As well as the Toureg.
The current gen Allroad seems to have overcome that reputation, totally new car, based on the A4 platform?...yes, A4.
Both Allroads are great looking, and I lusted after them, but the more I read, it was RUN AWAY! The 2nd gen used cheap with good records...? Maybe.
I had a 2001 A4 wagon 1.8T. Blew up the engine at 130k after diligent maintenance and full of fresh oil. Spun the rod bearings on the freeway. Apparently the original owner had coked up the oil passages because:
A - long service intervals by VW
B - the pan only held 3 1/2 qts of oil when full
C - there was way too much heat in the overcrowded engine compartment.

It was a 2017. And yes my mechanic mentioned something about low oil volumes not helping.

I had to drop an oil pump into my 1.8T in ManBeetle due to wear , at 50k. Pretty easy job, $100 part.
Thst took me to synthetic oil for all my cars. Quite some years ago? 2016 according to Photos

For comparison: dealer Castrol every 10k for the first 7 years, then Amsoil Signature and Red Line every 5k for another 7-8 years.

Today I tried to finally install my "new" ETM that is the blue box contactless version. Sadly, when connected to the engine(the body itself) the throttle oscillates like crazy and I get an ECM-91A7 code.
When not connected to the engine chassis, it seems to work fine when pressing the accelerator in key in pos II.
It's possible it's a software issue, but the issue seems to be similar to which may indicate a physical problem. And indeed unlike my original ETM, this one doesn't move as freely by hand, it feels like it's catching on something :/
If it is faulty, this means I was scammed and all my efforts unbricking it before were essentially all leading up to a dead end.
And I may need to do what this guy has done viewtopic.php?t=106311
