For a P2, the axle bolt for the CV axle is 35Nm + 90 degrees.

Now…..did I torque this already? No idea. I should put a little yellow paint pen line on critical bolts after they’re torqued.

Reminds me - there was an obsessive guy in Germany on the Audi forum who built a high performance A4 Avant from a bare body shell. He built it like an airplane, with safety wire on the hardware and little blue paint lines across the heads or nuts onto the sheet metal so you could visually check to see if something was backing out.

Kid called with check engine light on the 02 S60 2.4t. Was due for oil change so did that and scanned to find P0496 EVAP code.

Sure enough the EVAP hoses to the driver side of engine looked to be what the Brits would call manky or perished…not sure. A trip to the farm supply store for $5 worth of 3/8” fuel line fixed it all up. Of course in peeling the hoses off the check valve I forgot which way was which—50/50 chance, I think I got lucky and assembled it correctly!

I've taken to using a paint marker as my memory is not what it used to be. Also I am now helping others to learn so get distracted so it is easy to forget and miss torquing something. I also do this for angle tightening by marking on the bolt/nut I am tightening and the area around it to give the approximate angle.

Oh yeah definitely. I replaced my entire transmission, I torqued everything down BUT one of the wheels. I was doing 50mph and was wondering what that noise was....it was the wheel, the bolts were only finger tight and already ready to back out.

I think it’s universal on Volvo check valves that white is high pressure and black side is lower or vacuum pressure

So blackside should be plumbed closer to the brake booster or to the vacuum source

For a turbo, the snorkel is alway a vacuum source but the manifold is either a vacuum source or a pressure source, so plumb the check valve to the manifold , black closest

There should be a vacuum diagram under your hood. The check valves have an arrow indicating the direction of flow.

Hey krons ya that’s what I was doing, after all the research Iv done about the PvC system I did decided that if I’m doing the job, better do it right and check the whole system out. I did do the O-Rings, along with the sump ring and the cooler rings, pretty much everything that the entire job would entail. I got the pan and everything back on last night, and tonight now is the start of putting the new separator back in then the rest!!

Shiny new (THICK) aluminum skid plate. My plastic tray was long gone, so I put this on.
