It's been quiet on this one. If this is a non-turbo, then I am pretty sure you'll be fine. I hear that these are a less complex car and easier (cheaper) to maintain. If you are not going to do much where four wheel drive is necessary, then it should be a fine car. Search around on the site and I am sure you'll get some info and find others who have this. Overall it gets really good reviews http://www.edmunds.com/volvo/xc90/2007/ ... r-reviews/.xHeart wrote:I recently came across a 2007 3.2 V6 FWD with 3rd row. Looks great with 112,000 miles.
Anyone out there with this configuration?
Thank you.

We have owner Volvos since Jun 1976 when we bought a new DL242. Since then we've owned DL245, GL265, DL244, 850r, and a C70. We have a 2004 T6 Premier that we purchased through the overseas/Factory delivery program in Mar 2004. We have had 178,000 miles of trouble free driving as of today Mar 2017. From hauling Uhaul trailers to towing show cars, we've worked the car hard and it has never let us down. As we approached the end of warranty, we purchased an extended warranty.
Some insights why I believe the XC90 has done so well despite the many horrors related about both the car and the 2004 production models.
1. Comply with the maintenance schedule. The techies figured out what needs to change and how often. Just do it.
2. Tranny maintenance. The special tranny fluid comes in nice 1liter containers. Every 50k miles cycle out and change the tranny fluid. Too easy. Using a vacuum pump, suck out 2 liters of tranny fluid from the tranny dipstick tube and replace with 2 liters of new fluid. Do the same a week later., and a week after that. Auto trannies like clean fluid. On the first two changes of the fluid, the old fluid was really dark colored. The last one not so. Keeping the seals, bearings, gears well lubed in the tranny is critical. Too easy of a preventative fix you can do at home.
3. Use automated car wash to keep undercarriage clean. We live near the beach; the undercarriage, shock mounts, break line couplings, brake fittings and wheel wells are harbingers for mud and dirt and make it near impossible for good maintenance checks. Hose down the suspension often. Lots of places for yuck to hide and grow a problem.
4. When something breaks, replace/fix it. Delayed maintenance creates more collateral problems.
Things that have broken.
1. Front right wheel drive shaft bearings - replaced drive shaft.
2. Front left wheel bearing.
3. Front left front lower a-frame bushings -twice
4. Windshield washer liquid container cracked
5. Radiator overflow container cracked
6. Two new windshields from rocks
7. Sunroof glass cracked.
A good car that has served us well.

OK, here's another long long-term update. It is now Sept of 2017. Our XC90 now has 136K miles. Over all of 2016 and 2017 all I had to do was change the oil and replace some running lights. That's it.
The last major item to break was the ignition switch, which was replaced in October of 2015. A tab on the pot metal housing caused the key to get stuck. I learned about the joy of security bolts then.
The car has performed admirably over the past years and there's no sign of it failing. This is still the "go to" car when our family takes trips.
Here's a picture taken after a wash about 3 weeks ago. The styling looks great after 13 years. I have a friend who bought a 2018 XC90 Type R in red. It looks really good and I am tempted...
Still, the family SUV is really holding its own.

I've had plenty of used Volvos that I picked up as projects and fixed for daily drivers but this 2017 XC90 T6 Inscription is our first new one. It's a fantastic car. It was ordered as a demo car but sat on the lot with 61 miles on it and we bought it in January of 2018. It has every option (Winter Package is my fav) except for the HUD, Red Key and seats with the massage feature.(LOL). MSRP was 71k, but it was marked down more than 10% because it was last year's model.
The four cylinder with stop/start took some getting used to but it gets out of it's own way with 316HP, drives like a dream. The dealer delivery process was unbelievable. It has every safety / comfort / communication / entertainment feature I could ever want and then some. I bought the real Volvo roof rack bars and mud flaps at the dealer the next weekend.
Some other things I have to get used to:
1) No dipstick, you check the oil level in the infotainment system.
2) No temp gauge, not sure why but I feel weird without one.
3) Hardly any maintenance, just oil changes.
4) Autonomous parking assist, it's creepy to watch the car park itself. It's actually a cool feature, works flawlessly.
5) Engine stop start. I have to resist the urge to jump out and fix whatever caused the engine to stop running.
6) Lane keeping assist, 90% of the time is corrects my bad driving just fine, but it catches seams and reflections in the road once in a while.
Wasn't planning on a SUV with 22" rims! The T5 just wasn't going to cut it. Had to have the twincharged setup. The turbos sound fantastic if you listen carefully and the supercharger pulls hard off idle. The stock roof bars look pretty slick and went on really easy. Precious little to fiddle with here. Gets 23ish MPG on the freeway in Eco mode.

Looking for a V90 to be my next Volvo, at the very least a T5.

Now owner of a new-to-me 2013 Volvo XC90 Executive. Smashing cabin and instruments, electric sliver exterior with jaw dropping details everywhere.

We now have this EXACT looking Volvo XC90. Your thoughts on take off wheels -- dealer is offering 19x8"?
For fun, I am looking to flush the wheel with fender, so 20x9" is my guess.

After driving a 2018 XC90 T6 for 3 weeks last month, I think I can answer your question. It is the drive e system mated with a 8 speed automatic. That's a 2.0 4 cyl with both turbo and supercharger that shuts down and starts itself with autostart. In the normal driving mode the engine drives with considerably less power dialled back for fuel economy. To make the vehicle drive like a T6 the DYNAMIC mode must be selected which drops the in town mileage to 15mpg and a eliminates the autostart as well, but the mileage cost is well worth the power gain imo.
I reall like the XC90 and would buy one if I loose my S80 for any reason such as if it gets totalled. I would be receptive to just buying one if the DYNAMIC mode could be permanently selected. Just a pain in the ass to have to select a drive mode every time I want to go anywhere. Also no key sucks. June

What is battery like in new Volvos? Are there any? Does the engine start/stop feature changes battery life in urban driving?
