2002 XC70 (157K miles) gets 25-26 on the road, with the cruise set at 75 mph. I wish we could get non-turbo in the US.
2002 S80 2.9L (no turbo) (204K miles) gets 29.4-29.7 mpg, tank after tank, highway, 75 mph. This engine is bulletproof and the car is quick. Stay way from the turbo if looking for a used one; it just hog gas and you don't need it to be quick if you have the straight 6.
The 1985 245 (threw a rod at almost 400K miles) got 25 mpg, uphill, downhill, in reverse.
The 1967 122S wagon got 36 on the highway, if you kept the carbs tuned and balanced.
What is everyone's average mpg?

It depenends on how you drive it, yada, yada yada.
Anywhere from 17mpg in all city driving with lots of stoplights, idling, quick acceleration, AC on full blast, etc
To 34mpg running it up and down the west coast in the winter with the AC off. I pulled off a few 500 mile tanks. 87 octane helps if you can get away with it.

I have 2 Volvo 850s. one is a 93 5 speed non turbo the other is a 94 Turbo decently modified. The 93 has an intake, 960 TB, 2.25" full exhaust, ecu tune, cam timing adjustments, EST short shifter, short shifter bracket, lowered about 1.5" 180 degree thermostat. In the summer time i was getting 31.5-34.8 city highway the last few tanks of gas before it got into the freezing temps it went 608, 617, 638, and 654 miles on a tank of gas! on 205/50 15 Falken azenis tires. now that its in the teens and 20s im getting about 480 -550 city highway. 185/65 15 blizzak. It needs a tune up soon so thats also affecting it. I drive it about 800 miles a week. summer time it had about 265k now it has 285k summer time I was using only 93 octane. Since the winter ive been using 87
$$$.
My 94 Turbo has 182K it has: N/A cams, Cam timing adjustment, N/A intake manifold with no EGR, 960 TB, N/A trans computer, external trans cooler, 160 thermostat, white 350cc injectors, 16T turbo straight flange, "R" exhaust manifold, 3" OBX Turbo back exhaust, inovate wideband, full 3" intercooler piping, 3" thick front mount intercooler, -225lbs from interior, 215/40 17 dunlop direzza Star spec tires, lowered about 2", bilstien HD shocks & struts . I only used 93 octane in this one, stock it got about 19 city and 25 27 hwy. average now is about 25.6 currently its getting about 23.3 around town and the past few trips to work 55 miles all highway i got 28.9 29.7 and 31.3 @ about 65mph in 20-30 degree temps.

Just calculated mine the yesterday on fill-up.
1995 850 Wagon with 223K miles
Got 17.89mpg. Kind of bummed about the number, but realizing that this is a fixer-upper and is going to need a tune-up something fierce this spring. Also going to need to do the Seafoam treatment this weekend, followed by an oil change (very slight, very slow oil leak just noticed yesterday).

1992 960 sedan, LPG powered.
15.71 l/100 km = 14.97 US mpg = 17.98 UK mpg.
Thirsty, but LPG is only half the price of petrol, so no worries...
Airco on all the time, nice and warm here in Adelaide, South Australia.
