Incoming offer of 1977.31 USD for the total....
When a yacht full of people sinks in shark infested waters, only the lawyers and insurance adjusters are left alive...
Why?

Thank you for CL posting. I kind of like that VR. Not digging the rubber side moldings or the Running bars.erikv11 wrote:I don't know if it helps but here is an '00 R (silver) currently for sale by private party, listed for $5800. Sioux City is not your area but at least it is upper midwest.

Im looking to upgrade tho.
I was hit 5 days after registering my 945 SE. Guy was messing with his cell phone and crossed the middle rumble strips at 55mph. Luckily i was able to slow and pull to the right some, but he hit from my side mirror back to pull off the plastic of my rear bumper, smashed in the rear corner panel and tail light. Cop knew him and started the claim with his insurance to make sure he didn't try to get out of it. Drove it from Altoona PA to Washington DC in that shape. His insurance tried to use 740s as comparables to my car. I said no. They went to a used car lot selling imports and then said i was lucky that it was worth more. They gave me $3600 and I bought it back for $550. Since my sis gave me the car it was a deal. I drove it for five more years until the cooling fan wire shorted and caught fire...

To Steve -- "professional courtesy" of course.
That offer, is too low. Ask to see all the comps on which it is based. I'd be shocked if any were for an AWD R. Ask also what dealer you can go to to replace the car for that.
Also, in NJ the offer has to be at dealer retail since, presumably, you're going to replace the car at a dealer, and it must include sales tax. Don't know what the law is in Illinois, but it couldn't hurt to do a Google search for Illinois regulations on adjusting a total automobile loss. In NJ, the applicable statutory provisions are in the administrative code. In Illinois, don't know.

That offer is way too low. Ask them to find another in that color as blockpartie shows, there were 7 (?) sold in NA!
Have you gotten a resolution yet on this? What was the actual damage to the suspension/rear axle sustained? If the frame and sub-frame are ok and the damage is not to the hub/backplate then it is potentially fixable for not too much money.
There was a V70R being parted out some time ago by bluevanman in Illinois area. Don't know if he still has the body/suspension still, but he is a good guy to deal with.

If I wasn't so far away and the stupid cost of shipping, I have across stay bars, side stay bars (powder coated), rear control arms upper and lower in a stash. What you can't get easily are the hub assembly (XC part is different) it needs to be AWD or R part. 2000 R has a unique to rear for 2000 rear dust cover for the brakes and caliper.
The side stay front mount and bush is available new from Volvo for about $30 from Tasca. The bush alone is hard to get and is still $25!
The hardest part is the body repairs, but if they give you enough money it might be worth it.
Good luck!
Neil.
