It is not variable speed, it is corded and it is bulky but at 1050ft-lb (1423Nm) of torque, removing rusted Axle nuts is like spreading butter.

I saw that in this month's catalog and I was wondering about how well it works. I'm not a fan of corded impact wrenches, but if it's putting out 1,050 lb.-ft., I'm sure it gets the job done. It would be nice to have for things that my 300 lb.-ft. Craftsman C3 impact can't handle (which isn't much!)
Plus the price is more attractive than the high torque Milwaukee M18 impact.

The 1/2 in Milwaukee M18 impact is 450 ft-lbs, for a cordless that is high, most are around 250 ft-lbs. 450 ft-lbs will get most stuff but it won't get the really messed up stuff.

My cousin actually just bought the Kobalt 24 volt model from Lowe's for $190ish, and that one puts out around 650.

Then there's the Earthquake XT 20 volt 1/2" impact from HF that is comparable to this Milwaukee and the Snap On impact. I've heard good things about that impact, my uncle has one. https://www.harborfreight.com/20v-max-l ... 63852.html

My cousin who just bought the Kobalt impact had a Bauer cordless impact that claims 450 ft.-lb. but it was a piece of crap. Maybe he just got a bad one, but it took FOREVER to break a wheel bolt that my Craftsman 300 ft.-lb. impact took off easily. He tried both the 1.5ah battery and the 3ah battery, and the latter only yielded minimal improvement.
