Where did you measure 8 and 13-15 PSI? Fuel pressure?

I do not think your new plugs are the problem with proper gap. Volvo plugs are better for long term performance with the turbo, but others will work ok.

Checked vacuum at the tree from the manifold.

I’ll take your advice on plugs.

You may need to do a PCV service sometime. Search for this in this forum. The fact that you still have vacuum is good. Your readings are not bad.

Looking beyond your current problems, what is the general condition and mileage of this car and what maintenance has it had?

Have you changed the fuel filter and how full is the tank? Is there a possibility of water getting into the tank?

Always had good maintenance from the dealer 127k, I’ve only had it a few months, have all the service records.

Do you think the pcv could’ve failed due to all the other issues?

I don’t think water got in the tank, but I did add heet anyways. Also, I’ve got 55 psi at the fuel rail. Would that rule out the fuel filter? I figured it would since I had pressure, but I’m a Volvo newbie so not real sure.

Hey folks, yet another update. I bought plugs from the Volvo dealership and brought one in to show the tech. He said that the particular ones I had were garbage (auto lite) but idk. I have it started at running reasonably well right now. Well, except the oil leak at the rear of the manifold….yikes!

On these engines, the PCV is a system of pipes including water heating from the coolant. It becomes clogged with sludge over time. The test is to place a rubber glove over the oil fill opening. If the glove inflates at idle, the system is clogged. The result can be seal blow out.

I’ll check that right now, thanks for the advice. I’ve replaced those on my fords before, seems like a common failing to all the “new” vehicles.
