The bushing must have been degrading for a long time, I don't know how the guy let it get that bad. The interesting part is that the remnants you can see there are from a poly bushing... weird. The other arm has a standard rubber bushing.

I could see it now... 100 hp in a can: new from CRC!
Bushing -- My guess is it was made by the same company that sold me a poly upper torque mount that didn't even survive a year.

I've been consistently disappointed with those. I had one on my old '98 V70 for a while, then swapped it out for a rubber Lemforder part. It was too small for the bracket and moved WAY too much.
I had a black iPd one in my 2000 V70R up until last week when I pulled it out since it felt too loose. The PO put it in, and for some reason the bushing smelled NASTY. Like a garbage truck. No idea why. Fortunately I had a newer blue iPd mount, but it's the -'98 design so it doesn't fit perfectly in my bracket. I'll have to order a better mount soon. Maybe once I figure out the weird boost issues.

This weekend I finally got back to reviving the Red Sled, the 850 wagon. No one has driven it for many months. Gave him a good wash. Of course the battery is completely dead - only 3 years old. Read .4V...... point four.

Jumped it with Betty the P2, got him warm, smoothed out idle. Charging showed 14.4V. Pumped up a low tire with a bike pump. Idling for maybe a half hour. Headed to a local station with an air hose, topped off all tires, and headed for the freeway to give it a run and clean off the rotors. Made it to the stoplight next to the gas station and it died completely - no stumble, just OFF. Not even a click with the key. Not enough juice for the flashers even. Battery read 4.4V at that point.

Found the shift interlock to get it out of Park. Need to get out of traffic. A guy waiting in line at the corner restaurant jogged over and we pushed it into a parking area. My wife drove Betty down and we jumped it again. Headed right for the battery store and got a new one - I probably damaged this battery too much to have much life left.

So, good thing I never made it to the freeway!

Snagged C70 headlights from a junkyard for $75. I'm surprised they were still there - the interior was gone and a few of the headlight mounting bolts had been loosened.

So now I need the corner lights. More money. But this was an upgrade I'd had in mind for some time, so I'm happy to have found the headlights cheap.

ignition leads fitted
hi all well as reward for passing the mot today i fitted a new set of lucas ignition leads and then took the car for a good long run and she seems happier for them, the set i took of had been exposed to lots of engine oil and code date from 2003 so well needed though the car still has a misfire when pulling away and sometimes when changing gear it hesitates a little, then goes off like a rocket.
i have not yet changed the fuel filter and the one fitted looks ancient so maybe that will fix the misfire but i doubt it,properly gapped ngk plugs, new bosch dizzy cap and rotor arm,and now new leads am i missing something and do coils on these cause misfire?any advice welcome, peace

Nice find! Jewels make a HUGE difference in lighting. I love mine.

Replacing the fuel filter would be a good idea. Also make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks or any other basic, easy to overlook issues.

Good spotting.
I imagine it to be a wonderful surprise to have no warning until the steam came out the front.
The coolant temp sensor still supply’s to the ecu, but the wiring to the cluster temp gauge is hijacked by the gas controller to show tank level. I have however (after a bit of head scratching) changed it to show temp. Also the gas switch (down to the left) used the connector usually used for the info Switch. So I had to source, from the US, a switch and connector and made up my own harness to the info socket on top of the cluster. As , in theory, you couldn’t have both.
It had other intricacies, like a proximity sensor on the petrol (gas) flap, that prevented the flap being opened when car was running, or the car starting if the flap was slightly ajar, or more annoyingly misaligned. The fill valve for the gas was beside the fuel filler.
The gas tank was removed before the car was imported, and, all the electronics and mechanicals I removed and sold back to a collector in the UK, as it was a ‘rare’ factory fit CNG as opposed to the normal LPG.
In short - yes , no temp gauge. As we bifuelers live life on the edge.

You could monitor coolant temp through obd with a Bluetooth link, too.
