I never park under the trees but it's so hot today I thought I would treat the Volvo to some shade. This maple tree limb just missed it.

Replaced the power steering pump in my s60 prior to listing it. Steers much easier. Need to do an end link and a top motor mount but she is ready for safety. Will go through the friends channel and anyone my mechanic thinks would treat it well prior to selling on marketplace.

When I bought my '07 XC70 it had a slew of messages and the ABS light and DSTC light on, also the AWD didn't work. I had a suspicion that all were related and may be remedied by replacing the battery that was last new in 2017, the car had sat for a length of time before I bought it. It had an ANTI SKID/ ABS message, BRAKE ASSIST and PARK ASSIST service required message in the inbox as well. I went over to scot850's house and we plugged it into VIDA and found a BSC0070 code present. Also a couple of the rear park sensors were shown to have voltage out of range. After a little research, I drove to the junkyard and pulled an ABS/BCM pump for $15 and slapped it in, job took about 30 minutes.

No more lights or messages on the dash other than the Park Assist Service Required which I'll address when I have time. Also the AWD works again! I'm loving this car more and more each day!

I found putting that pump back into the housing a real challenge. I forgot the technique I finally used, but I do remember trying to expand the two pistons and then slip pump in for two hours did not work.

Put the bearing in between the two pistons first, then drop the pump in. I got lucky because the bearing stayed in between the pistons both times when I removed the pump making it real easy.

My bearing came out, and that makes it a lot more difficult. I don’t think I realised the bearing slipped off so I was trying to retract the pistons with a pick, then slip the motor in. 3 hours of Big Brother TV I missed,, never to be recovered

Not today, but TOMORROW…. We leave port for an 1800 mile roundtrip across the wilds of Wyoming. Rough seas and dry brush there. About a 4-day sail in any direction to any sort of knowledgeable import car shop. Taking a back way on one leg, away from the shipping lanes, over a twisty alpine pass that’s closed in the winter.

There’s a boat (there’s a wooden Klepper kayak in three bags in there). There’s a bike. There are tools. There is oil.

It'll be great and have no problems. There's no point in having these old cars if were afraid to actually use them as they were intended, especially after you put all that time and effort into proactive repairs. How many miles are on Betty now?
