Maybe they just don't look well on photos?
People don't know how to properly care for the vinyl coating on automotive leather. Leather in my '06 shows no sign of degradation. But I use a UV blocking conditioner formulated specifically to work with vinyl. Because the vinyl is what you're really taking care of. The leather underneath is sealed and you need never worry about it...unless the vinyl coating breaks down.
The fact that automotive leather and things like low-mid price home leather furniture, handbags etc are usually vinyl coated doesn't seem to be common knowledge.

Again, don't know the owner or the car, but maybe someone may want this:

If considering it remember where it is coming from. make sure you ask for pictures of the rear sub-frame mounts especially the rear ones just back from the rear axle. The anti-freezing agent they spray on our roads up here in the winter eats right through them. If it is good, may make a good project.

If I didn’t already have a V70 wagon that I love, I’d probably be looking at this for myself...

In Charlotte NC, 2006 XC70, 194K miles, just under $4000...
Ad says silver, but pictures look more like Willow.

Screenshot for posterity:

I would avoid unless you really can't live without an NA, red, 2001 manual S60. It might be the only one... possibly maybe.

The wheels look odd. I'd expect these:

volvo-s60-t5-11.jpg

Those are the wheels I thought every early P2 S60 manual came with, but they could be a turbo manual thing.

The wheels on the red car in the ad didn't hit the line until a year or two later, AFAIK.

Not my car, but what a great listing!

Rebellious and troubled 1998 Volvo XC Wagon - $500 (Asheville)

1998 volvo xc70
fuel: gas
title status: clean
transmission: automatic
Rebellious, troubled 1998 Volvo XC -$500

If I were you, I wouldn't buy this car from me. But Im not you, so I'm hoping I will find someone who will put up with its shortcomings, work with its issues, find solutions to its problems, and make it happy again. Perhaps Im being a little harsh on the poor thing. It was a 30,000 dollar car in its time, and its been in my family for years and been good to us. But my god it is being very incorrigible right now. But the good thing is they are all very juvenile issues that could be fixed with some good mechanic love.

Here are some of the ways it is acting out:
1) The bastard wont roll up its rear left window. I was gonna take off the door panel and get it up and then just snip the wires so that it never rolls down and I dont put money into a new motor or whatever.
2) It is giving me the silent treatment on telling me how many miles is on it, but im guessing about 140,000 considering what my dad told me when he gave it to me. Also, it refuses to play music bc you have to have a code that you could easily get from the dealership, but I never bothered.
2) There is some sort of electrical issue bc the car refuses to shine its left headlight. Every time I put a bulb in it blows within a couple weeks. Probably a short. What an ass.
3) There is something draining the battery because if you let it sit for more than a day you have to jump it. It does have a relatively new battery though. It may just really like the fact that it gets to hook up with other cars. So sneaky and kinky this car.
4) The interior is shameful. But the exterior is actually really nice. The best way to describe it is if you pulled into someones driveway to pick them up for a date, some people would look out the window and say to themselves "Hmm, sharp looking car." Then when they got in they would all of a sudden pretend they were sick and cancel the date. So in a way this is a good thing bc it can weed out shallow people in your love life.
5) It has a serious oil leak. I'm pretty sure it is something stupid like the oil pan or valve cover gasket. I think this is a shouting out for help.
6) My dad took off the All Wheel Drive pto bc he was told he would get better gas mileage, which I don't know if that is the case. Poor car has to drag its hind wheels. But I have it and it can be installed in 20 minutes.
7) I can't remember if it is the heat or ac that doesn't work. It enjoys one season over the other and doesn't care what I think about it evidently.

But even though it suffers from its issues, and is calling out for help in various ways, deep down inside it is a good car, means well, and has a lot of potential. For example:
1) Probably its best attribute is the timing belt, water pump, valve job, and so forth done when I got the head gasket fixed probably not even 5000 miles ago. I might have the receipt, but it was fixed at Curtis hitech if you want to talk to them. This says a lot about the car. It has a good heart. I could probably part out the engine for more money than Im selling it for, but I would never rip out the heart of a car that has been so good to me and my family.
2) The tires are in great shape. Its really cool of the car to provide this so that you don't have that annoying expense right off the bat. Thanks buddy.

Im asking $500, but if you offer me anything less down to $400, I'll take it. But I'll still take $500 if you would like to pay that. Car located in Asheville, NC.

So in conclusion, don't buy this car unless you are willing to commit to helping to make it a better car. It needs attention, and in return you could feel good about yourself for being there for it. It would surely repay you in leaps and bounds, for this diamond in the rough is one of the best cars I've ever known, just down and out.

Very honest ad. Car doesn't look too bad apart for the oil leak issue. Nothing major. Love the bale of hay in the trunk. Being from NC the rear sub-frame could be good and if car runs otherwise ok, could be a interesting challenge for someone!
