That Suplex aftermarket spring is probably fine with new 4C struts, I just don't know. I've never replaced it. I would maybe spend up for the Volvo part but it is definitely not cheap. Maybe someone who has actually owned and replaced the springs will chime in.
If you want to go with that one you could get the same part 20 bucks cheaper per side, from this very trusted vendor: https://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/74095/ ... nt-S38107/
You don't want to hear this but if you get new parts then likely it also needs new strut mounts and spring seats, on top of the strut towers. Maybe that pushes you to the Suplex springs for sure! Try to find out what strut mounts are on there, if you can.
Sorry I didn't re-read over the whole thread - but did you already determine if it has 4C struts right now? Just take a look, they are distinctive.

That was my assumption, that springs were fine, just shorter. Based on what everyone here was telling me. Prior to that, all I knew was that something really wasn't right.EngineeringBloke wrote: ↑14 Apr 2019, 19:12 Perhaps the springs are in good condition, but due to being shorter, they would have less give and result in a harder ride. Your mechanic may consider them ok for a sporty feel on good flat roads.
It might be worth checking with them again to see if they understand your concern. Particularly if they have been fine otherwise. It does not seem they are trying to force new parts on you.
And as I mentioned, I hit those concrete parking spot blocks, too, until I made sure to stay back from them. An XC would be high enough, but I do think Volvos are generally pretty low. Yours are just extra low!
See Marcobrick's V70 in the photo in his first post. It is not much higher than yours. Perhaps an inch?

I like your suggestion and will call them tomorrow. They've been busier than usual, since the first of the year. I can understand how they aren't at their best right now. I'm not making excuses, but we're all human, and I've been with them for years, so there's probably a degree of comfort there for them. You're correct. They never suggested new parts, in fact they fixed the A/C by addressing a gap on the clutch, rather than replacing the compressor. They said the compressor still has approximately 30 to 40k left on it. So no, they aren't for pushing new parts.

It does have the 4C struts, my other, non-euro car mechanic pointed this out to me when I asked him about it.erikv11 wrote: ↑14 Apr 2019, 19:15 That Suplex aftermarket spring is probably fine with new 4C struts, I just don't know. I've got spring seats on my list, I'll look into the mounts. I did some research on the Suplex springs. They appear to be very high quality. They have been discussed favorably elsewhere on the Net.
I've said it before, but thanks to you and everyone else here. I am really appreciative of all your help.

The right balance of pain and price for me on front end parts is:
Gather up my parts , exactly what I want to my specs, so no kits ( I use FCP for life)
Take parts to indie for $100 bucks labor to assemble on their nice wall mounted compressor
Take home and inspect
Bolt on.
If I need a wheel bearing or brakes it done at the same time for my labor overlap,
Even if the shop is full up they will give me an hour with all Bays full.

Okay, we can mark this one solved.
I just have gotten the car back today. The gap between the front tires and the car is (at least) about two to three inches more than what it had been. I no longer experience a hard impact with every lip, dip, pothole and bump. What's more, I tried a new European car shop. My previous Euro car shop missed that the tie rods were completely toasted. No more vibrations when driving over 60 miles an hour on the highway. Curiously, the turning radius seems to have improved as well.
So the car is repaired (although the back struts seem to indicate needing new struts as well) and the problems I'd been having are solved. What's more, I think I've found a new auto shop in the process.
Thanks everyone for the help.
