What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Replaced upper engine mount. Was looking through prior service history and see that the "front" engine mount under the timing belt was done recently. Hooray! Got the Hutchinson upper mount from FCP since I did not want to spend the extra coin on the genuine Volvo item. Comparing the original Volvo mount to the Hutchinson mount reveals that they are identical but for a couple cast in items. The "Volvo" and part number on the Hutchinson mount have been ground off. Otherwise, it is indistinguishable from the genuine Volvo part. I am pretty sure the collective wisdom of the forum already knew this.

Over the last month or so I have been working on a full suspension rebuild on my 01 V70. I have the rear end done already, and all the stuff on the front end, except subframe bushings and the front IPD sway bar.

Today, I got the front sway bar in...upside down. So, it hits the tie rods. Then ran out of daylight.

I can’t wait to be finished, and drive it. I’m excited about it, and tired of working on it at the same time. No mechanic shop in town would touch the rear end with all those press fit bushings. So I had to do it, and it nearly drove me crazy.

Good work! How many miles that you decided to completely rebuild? Did you use a bunch of fixtures and big sockets to press out bushings?

We turned into the alley at my M-I-L’s house, and there was a deep drift between the hedges and probably 40’ long. Betty just dug right through it, even with crappy all season tires.

We were toasty inside while it was 3F and blowing 30-40 outside. Very pleased.

Sent my 2002 V70 2.4T dashboard instrument cluster off to European Electric to get it overhauled. Constant SRS error code, other codes frequent when weather is hot (this is Tucson!) erratic gauge readouts, power windows won't work sometimes, driver door lock does not work with key (need to pull up knob from back seat to open driver door,) radio erratic - jumps stations, volume knob doesn't work, cruise control doesn't work. Open the pod door HAL. I'm sorry Dave. I can't do that. How many of these things do you think will be miraculously fixed when I get it back and reinstalled?

Installed new washer fluid reservoir. The PO patched up the cracked reservoir but it still had a slow leak. The new reservoir had a different location to mount the pump so had to re-route the hoses.

Could of got one at junkyard at low price but didn't want to be laying in mud so got a new one for $56 at FCPEURO.

Also drained 3.66 quarts of ATF and replaced with Idemitsu TSL. This was the 4th ATF sump drain since last May but it's still coming out dark brownish with a red tint.

Jumping stations: head unit internal fault

SRS code needs fixed after installing the repaired cluster, Vida can erase it or an advanced code reader (not the small ones)

With the cluster fixed the gauges will work fine

I did four or five drains in the space of a day with a couple miles of driving between each before I saw any change.

The other day I dropped off my daughters 04' V70 at the indies shop to have the manifold cat replaced. The main cat was replaced a while back but the same inefficiency code came back. I was kind of anticipating this because my mechanic had sent me a photo looking into the manifold cat saying that it was already pretty "compromised"

Easy enough I thought and ordered a Bosal aftermarket one, thinking that a used one might still throw a code.
Not so, my indie sent me a photo clearly showing that the flange was angled the wrong way turned 90 deg. Could this be a manufacturing defect? I cannot see that there are 2 different versions.

Now I ordered a Davico one and I'm hoping that this one will fit.
I feel really bad because the car is sitting in his bay for day 2 now and can't be moved.

Fitted a Rakaror 3" inch catback system which pairs flawlessly with my BSR Tuning 3" downpipe. Sounds good too while keeping the OEM look.
