That’s what I thought, the starter signal is the only thing that the PNP switch should affect.

mdr, when you said you got a cough, do you mean it’s cranking and trying to start, or it only briefly cranked? I would only suspect the PNP switch if you’re experiencing the latter.

He did not say it cranks, he said it coughs. Completely out would be no crank. Just poor contacts might let it cough as Mdr puts it.

Regardless, Mdr now has enough information to confirm or disprove his analyst. If he can take the information and apply critical thinking. If he is incorrect he still has enough information to finish trouble shooting.

Threw the Battery switch on Shaggkira to mitigate current drain. I have a tailgate light that sticks on and runs the battery down, have to hunt down the switch or wiring fault.

It’s not the best solution because disconnecting the battery is runn8ng the fuel map cold but so goes the war.

Well I hear "cough" and I assume it's cranking and sputtering. Obviously terms like that are subjective, so it's best to confirm lol.

And about those headlight wipers...

So I was digging around in the help section here and after eliminating all the usual suspects, endedIMG_20210531_151134345.jpg up with this. The neutral safety switch. This has to be it because this looks like it's oe and I did the shifting back forth and only got a slight cough from the engine when I turned the key.
One trick that helped me solve a mystery electrical gremlin on my first 850 was to unplug and re-plug the coolant sensor a couple times. Maybe the Crust of the Ages has gummed up the spades. You're already looking at the module anyway.

It was not visible before I cleaned it. When I got this it had 193k on it with a documented timing belt change at 157k. Idles perfectly at 900 but everything around it needs replacing. Still has the original alternator and that's next on the list to go.

In association with a engine I would have the same interpretation.
In association with the starter, my interpretation is the starter moves a little then quits.

Disassembled my master window switch, hit it with some isopropyl, followed by a light application of flux with a toasty 150C hot air pass, followed by laser lens cleaning solution and adequate wiping and scraping. Now all my windows work:P.

Secondary fault was the rear left window motor somehow got disconnected so i reattached it.
