On Saturday on took an oversize truck and trailer load of brush and bamboo over to my out of town location for dumping. The 1 ton Ford truck worked well and the unloading by hand only took about 2 hours. I hope to get another load ready by the end of January. After returning home I repositioned the trailer to the back yard for cutting and loading from the northeast corner of the lot. I moved the trailer to the back using the John Deere mower. It is more maneuverable than the truck.

I played musical vehicles today.
First move was the V70 out of the path around the west side of the house.
Second move was the F350 from the back side and around the west side of the house. The truck had been filled high with tree trunks and branches as I cleared a new path for the mower through native trees and brush.
Third move was the John Deere riding mower pulling my 16 foot trailer from the back of the house around to the front drive. The trailer had a partial load of cut bamboo from the cleared path area.
Fourth move was the truck hitched to the trailer and moved to the south east corner of the lot to load additional bamboo and brush.
Fifth move was the mower back to the shop behind the house.
Sixth move was the V70 back to it's original parking spot.
I hope to complete this load and one more before the ticks start crawling around about middle of March. I hate those blood suckers.

My LL Bean brown leather boot is a go-to for extreme weather for past 32 years - waterproof, snow, warmer, and/or pure labor. This pair was $200 in 1991. The outsole is one piece made of synthetic material which has been peeling away at the toe and heel; yard work last fall was a struggle with these boots.
This is a real thick leather boot with original lace. After looking for replacement and not finding something similar at a reasonable cost, I decided to service the outsole; separated, cleaned the matting surfaces with mineral spirit, rinsed with 50/50 mix of simple green, and let it dry overnight.
The upper, insole, welt, and condition of the boot all around is very good, no break in stitches and seam. After inserting the shoehorn; I mixed the two-parts of JB Weld and applied a very thin coat to the full surface outsole and placed the HFT 1" spring clamps around the matting parts.
I have my boots back!!!

Learning about water hammer. It appears infrequently -- when hot water faucet is turned on.
The Watts water pressure test gauge at a hose connection after the city water meter shows black needle at 40psi while red at 50psi; these numbers are in safe zone.
What is your experience with water hammer?

Water hammer can be caused by slamming of water flow when a valve closes.
Here is a link that may help.
https://www.bobvila.com/articles/water-hammer/
If you can slow the water flow it might help - partially closing the hot water valve at the faucet.

Best fix. Run a piece of pex with a valve on top all the way up into the attic. Shut water off , drain water out, close valve. Now you have a huge air column to absorb the shock of moving water when you turn a tap off.

Plumbers will often put a 12" riser on the line where the angle stop is located. That's all the height you need to cushion the water.

A week ago I hacked a narrow path through the brush, bamboo, and broken branches to the long abandoned garden shed to the side of our lot. I had remembered that the shed had a brick floor and thought it might have brick matching the house.
Alas, the bricks were Queen size, not the King size I need for my house.

My Amana clothes washer is not spinning clothes dry. I started giving it an extra spin cycle after each wash cycle. Then it started to refill with water instead of starting the spin cycle.
After checking on line for information, I found this washer has a computer that will set codes for problems. I tried a reset and now it will reliably run the spin cycle. It just needed a reset. Who knew?
It probably still needs a new belt to improve the spin cycle.
