I ended up doing the B4 servo update but my adaptations cycle was not done properly as I hit too much traffic.
The flare has changed character and is a shorter duration. It's almost a smooth drive now.
I'll post again once I do the cycle properly.

Thought I'd update this thread with a good result. The B4 cover, new fluid, fluid counter reset and adaptations did the trick. I love driving my P80 daily and is a real workhorse with low fuel usage.
The flares are almost non existent and the bumping from 4th to 3rd is only occasional. I've travelled a further 45,000kms from purchase using Nulon Synthetic Multi Vehicle Fluid (now JWS-3309 compliant)
