Well, that would explain it - thanks. I must have missed that in the info I read. I'm (still) waiting for a cable delivery to use VOL-FCR that definitely should show codes but thought I would get a head start using Torque. I like Torque but codes would be nice since the info is right there. I think I read that Torque is extensible via plugins, etc. Does anyone know of someone using Torque for codes, and even for ABS codes, for P2 platform Volvos. It might be a simple (to the right person) matter of a few lines of code in a plugin or stand alone app - once you know what to look for in the info delivered to the OBD2 port.

But it looks like my 1998 V70 T5 is not P2 (https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/v70/). Back to the drawing board or does the same apply to pre-P2? (Would that be P1?)

ELM327 and Torque Pro app seemed to work great on my P2 (2007) but then I got a couple scary-sounding transmission error warnings on the dash along with P0600 and P0863 codes so it appears that it doesn't play well with the multitude of computers in the P2 cars.

Ive used my torque elm327 on my old 850 and now using it on my 02 xc70 it shows my codes no problem

I use the torque app on my '97 850 every time I drive. It's absolutely great. With the 850 the OBDII port is in a decent place to not get in the way as well. I use it as a simple way to keep track of how many miles I've driven as my odometer is non functioning at the moment (it's on the list!) The ELM327 adapter can also be used to pull actual mileage through a hand written program as well. AI apologize as I only skimmed this thread so I'm not sure if it has been mentioned, but you an pull the actual mileage of a 96+ (I think) car and above with a nonfunctioning odometer using an ELM327 and a simple program someone coded. I can provide a link to the program in question if it hasn't already been mentioned.
