Neil.
Glad i did not buy a lottery ticket. Ended up snapping a part of the starter and destroying it on install. Found the last one in the region today, installed and cross threaded a 14mm bolt. Thankfully the front 17mm went in without issue and both adequately hold together the starter to the motor. That starter will last the life of the car and there are no sensors around it so i will never remove it. Car starts brilliant.

Now i can sleep

Again, well done. Starters are or can be a devil to get aligned and fitted. The ones I have removed recently were from 99/00 years and they had 2 x 15mm bolts on the motor and a 12 or 13mm on the rear bracket. I have found different ones though fitted on other cars over the years which is weird. The locator pin is the hardest part. sometimes a little thin lube and a light rub with piece of fine sandpaper around the diameter of it to remove corrosion can help.

Scrubbed my rims again. I'd really like to take them off and scrub them, but even scrubbing them while mounted, they look so much better. The front pads really dust a lot.

when I bag at car, I also sort into dry, cool, and cold goods without time pressure so stowing at home goes faster too

Hi,

That's an interesting thought. I think that would work here at Shop Rite but at the dollar store they have such a small area for holding products that it gets all congested with stuff that i buy and i usually buy a decent about of food items so i dont have to keep going back.
They also keep saying they are out of bags but i think they just got lazy and dont order them anymore maybe it's also easier for them if they dont have to bag. But it's a little bit of a pain to keep the stuff that has been charged and not charged separate, and i have to keep putting things back into the cart to wheel out to the car where hopefully i remembered to stock with bags again before i left.
I think i will get used to keeping bags in the car pretty soon though now because it's been a pain and one time i only had one bag that was nuts.

I am also reading now about problems in NJ with the plastic bags being banded.
For one, some people dont want to buy bags so they take off with the little plastic shopping thing they use to collect food items, taking them home and never to return. Stores stopped buying them to replace the ones stolen.
Also i read now that people are beginning to accumulate the 'reusable' bags, and even the food bank has a problem because although they ask for excess bags from people when they get them they are not clean and they feel that's a health risk and not ethical either to give to people for groceries.
Also, i read that the cost and greenness to make the reusable bags is far higher than the plastic ones, so they use more energy to make and more green house gasses.
As we might expect, the ramifications were not thought out very well and that's very strange since NJ was not the first one to impose this "law". Unfortunately it also seems like a precursor to even worse laws as some fear.
They are talking about letting paper bags come back onto the scene and maybe the already are.

Overall i might have benefited from this though because i stopped using styrofoam cups and the bags are definitely stronger so they dont break when you carry them up the stairs loaded with groceries. I used to have to hunt down styrofoam cups which was a pain to find in stores sometimes and of course now i dont have to pay for them, although i often have to pay for the bags.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Both stores sell paper bags and reusable bags at the register for a nominal fee (like 35 cents for paper) but it would be nice it they were included.
It really surprises me that paper bags haven't made a comeback, considering they're much easier to recycle than plastic.
From what i read recently paper bags may be making a comeback for that very reason. I guess we will see.

I bag my own stuff like the way abscate does. I load the conveyor that way and then load it into my own re-useable bags the other end. Plastic bags are banned in the city and even the national government has planned to ban compostable plastic bags the Co-op uses!

Oh well, we have to now go the un-healthy route of re-useable bags or wash them regularly if you can! That's progress for you.

Neil.
Yeah it's strange to see this happen but also the world is getting really messed up with the number of things getting into the ocean and water supply. I guess we just have to sit and wait and see what happens.

And what comes next ... reusable clothing? Ha ha. But certainly not reusable socks right? Noooooo ha ha.

I bought the Akebono pads for the front, but have not installed them yet. The rears are Centric C-tek, which is their economy pad. The existing pads were very thin, and needed to be replaced right away. It was one of the very first things I had to do on the car, besides the timing belt, when I bought it.

I'm curious what the pads are, on the front of my car. They appeared to be recently installed when I bought the car. The rears looked to be original.

I had Centric C-tek on my old ‘98 V70. They were absolutely horrible. Decent at first, but then after a couple thousand miles, they were borderline scary.
I highly recommend anything Akebono. Their pads are excellent.

I had the pad material separate from the backing plate - C-tek clearly stamped on the plate. Draw your own conclusions.
