did some touchup paint on the front hood and will be purchasing some formula 3000 rust proofing to oil spray the old car.
Partners RDX had a starter that bit the dust, get to do a street change later tonight. Only blessing was that the dealership had an oem starter for 260$ I am guessing it was purchased but the individual did not get the work done. Has honda labels and is sealed in box.
Napacanada listed the cheapest starter for 375 pre tax, and the junkyards were picked clean in my area.
I noticed that replacing my trunk latch has fixed the sensor for door closed. I have a dash free of lights and a trunk light that turns on and off with the door.
Planning on doing an oil change at some point this weekend.

Did you use the 1/2" or 1" thick? Seems like all they have now is 1/2".redbeak1 wrote: ↑03 Aug 2020, 22:05 After years of rodents making a hotel out of the OEM front hood insulation on my 96 850T5, I found an all fiberglass hood mat replacement. It's almost the same thickness as the original. I just put the old one over as a template and now the rodents can't stand the fiberglass!! I got it at Detroit Muscle Technologies.
How did you punch out the holes for the clips?

Hello,
Not today, it's still kind of early here, but yesterday i put shopping bags in my Volvo.
Sounds kind of silly right?
Well here in NJ we have a ban on regular plastic shopping bags so some stores no longer have bags to bag your order. You go to the store, but a bunch of stuff, when you get to the register they say they are all out of bags, again. This means you have to cart your stuff out to the car and hope you remembered your shopping bags so you can bag your order and get it into the house when you get home. This has been a big pain in the neck (as well as other places).
There is also a ban on styrofoam cups, and although i thought i could not live without styrofoam cups i found out there are benefits for this for me personally. Number one, i dont have to worry about finding the cups at the store anymore which was a problem in itself because they often ran out. That meant i had to keep a stock of my own at home, which i dont have to do anymore. I use glass cups now which you dont have to throw away of course and they are much nicer too.
Well i hope i didnt bore anyone here

I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.
1998 v70, non turbo, FWD, base model, on the road from April 2nd, 2015 to July 26, 2023.

I’ve noticed it is so much faster to checkout without bagging. The engineer in me says this makes a lot of sense. Cashiers used to bag as they scanned which was most efficient but retailers dont like the loss of accuracy ATthe POS
when I bag at car, I also sort into dry, cool, and cold goods without time pressure so stowing at home goes faster too
It’s just you and me Mr Al, and Erik and Potatoes

That's how grocery stores like Aldi and Lidl have always done it, and it works really well for efficiency at the register (well, at Aldi at least). Both stores sell paper bags and reusable bags at the register for a nominal fee (like 35 cents for paper) but it would be nice it they were included.
It really surprises me that paper bags haven't made a comeback, considering they're much easier to recycle than plastic.

Safeway in Canada sells re-useable bags or brown paper bags if you don't take your own.
I bag my own stuff like the way abscate does. I load the conveyor that way and then load it into my own re-useable bags the other end. Plastic bags are banned in the city and even the national government has planned to ban compostable plastic bags the Co-op uses!
Oh well, we have to now go the un-healthy route of re-useable bags or wash them regularly if you can! That's progress for you.
Neil.

I usually use a self checkout, so I pack my bags like that at the register. More and more and more self checkout here in MI..... even inside the gas station now.
Plenty of plastic bags here. They can be returned to the store for recycling, which I do every so often.

Reset the timing on my camshafts ( NA ) to get a little bit more low ends torque. Worked great !
Went out for a nice test drive; played with a Tesla Plaid ( ok it played with me ). It's something else watching that thing take off from the line, and at any speed. Only thing missing was the sound. I got to ride around in a friends base model, and he had fun slamming me back against the seat, time and time again

It runs fine, when I bought it there was a bunch of vacuum lines missing so it idled really bad, and the ignition switch is dying. Looking through the owners manual it appears the engine and transmission where replaced about 50,000 miles ago, and that's all the maintenance records i have. The rear shocks are dead and the front struts are leaking, so that's the next thing to fix. I actually don't plan on keeping this car for long. I got it for cheap so i was just gonna sell it once I got it road worthy, but the car seems really well built, so that might change.MrAl wrote: ↑14 Sep 2022, 21:22Hi,turboenjoyer wrote: ↑14 Sep 2022, 12:11 I bought a 1998 Volvo s70 glt last week, this is my first post here (or on any Volvo forum lol) you guys have already helped me a ton
