Qualified my fuel gauge. It doesn’t quite reach 18gallons indicated. Either alignment or slight extra resistance in wipers. It does indicate reliably down to 4 gallons, and eventually I will take it to the idiot man light and see what the refill is. I’ll carry a couple of gallons for that day
Idiot man light bulbs are maybe first things to burn out in 850 models due high usage .

Original 850 wipers has wing top of them to maximize wind efficiency of car body.. or push them harder to wind screen.

Forgot to say that the mileage will probably drop once the AWD is reinstated. But the mileage you are getting is excellent for now.

When I though our rust was bad, when I see what you have to work with it is actually not that bad!

I finally got my reflashed ECU back from the guy who reflashed and retuned it for the manual swap in my 96R. Also, the Japanifold and single mass flywheel arrived at the same time. Funtastic!
Now all that is left to order is the Quaife

Power steering tank sprung a leak on the daily driven '99 over the weekend. This car is mocking me. Reached out to Abscate, who 1) was close enough to his stash, 2) actually found one in his system, and 3) hustled to the Post Office just before closing. Insured and tracked, on its way with scheduled delivery Tuesday or Wednesday; pretty reasonable for the 340-odd miles.
Enter the New, Improved DeLay USPS. The package went to ... Las Vegas.
I did what I thought about doing when it started spewing - went out back and looked under the hood of the wrecked S60 T5M.

Different part number, but close enough. The Evil 99 is back on its hands and feet.
The Abscate box is continuing its National Tour.

Pull-a-Part run this morning, as a '95 850 Turbo dropped a couple days ago.
Someone had been playing with this thing a bit before they scrapped it.Grabbed a few more things than I planned on originally.

Image

-Good later wagon roof channel rails
-OMP STB*
-ipd 22mm Rear Sway Bar**
-snabb MAF to turbo pipe
-628 "R" ECU*
-Rear 850 mudflaps
-side markers
-Later washer nozzles
-IP dimmer switch (mine is flaking out)
-rear wagon speakers and a couple interior bits for my wife's car.

It had some AM 15" wheels with snows on them, some pf the 99-00 tail lights, and a cobbled together 3" exhaust, which I didn't want or need.

(* Will be selling these later. ** I have another 22mm rear ipd bar that I'll probably sell. It's a bit more crusty, but usable)

I had both of my IPD anti sway-bars de-rusted and powder coated. The front one never went back on and sits in the stash with new poly bushes as well as Energy Suspension 25mm/1 inch polybushes with grease nipples on the mounts. Ended up fitting an OE 'R' one instead trying to fix a suspension groan. Now can't raise the enthusiasm to replace.

Junkyard trips often run away with what you actually need when you see interesting and shiny parts!

That is definitely a good haul! We seldom see 850's here anymore and when we do little is worth salvaging. :(

Took the intake off, I think I could do it in my sleep at this point  Forgot to put a crush washer on the oil pressure sender so it was leaking, and wanted to check the knock sensors orientation to avoid bending rods a 3rd time

I went there for the IP dimmer switch...(And maybe the interior bits for my wife's wagon). The past few 850's have just been "drivers" and not an "enthusiast's" car, so I wasn't expecting much.

If the exhaust wasn't crusty, I might've grabbed it. It was still a 15G, and it looked like and they cobbled together the fitment of the 3" DP and the rest of the exhaust was 3" back through a MagnaFlo muffler at the back. Not ideal, but might've been good for parts or for someone else needing/wanting one.

Chuck, that is my issue at the junkyard. I see stuff I really don't need myself but think there will be someone out there who might need it as that part is NLA or very expensive new. That is why I have so many parts in the garage and just built another 12m of shelves!

Goupil, I really hope 3rd time is your lucky time!
