I seem to recall the actual door latch on the 850 is different to the V/S70. The little plunger that is the 'lock' is a different shape/size.

You could just remove the actuator and test it on the bench. It is held on by 2 x T25? Torx screws on the outside near the latch.

Bring it and the kids out to port Jeff for the weekend and we will get her done
Thank you for the invitation! I have mandatory kids swim team “volunteer” duty or else we would’ve been there.

I had just enough time before it got too dark to drain the coolant, remove the fan assembly and strip one of the screws holding the rad to the condenser. I’ll pick up replacement screws after I’m done “volunteering” tomorrow morning.
Replace that hardware with cheap SS m6 bolts from Lowe Quality. You need a thin plier to hold them to get started but they won’t corrode

Also use SS 3/8 diameter sheet metal screws on the radiator shroud bolts. Those always rust to crap because of the radiator heat. I’ve got a link on those somewhere

Yes, at that point, I'd be eliminating the latch/lock feature. The 850 hinge holds the door closed, while the S70 hinge props it out unless latched.
You could just remove the actuator and test it on the bench. It is held on by 2 x T25? Torx screws on the outside near the latch.
I'm still trying to determine if I'm actually getting power to the back. I guess swapping to the 850 setup is what I'll do if I'm not getting power back there. I'm not digging into wiring.

I'm going to have to go back to the brakes, too..... passenger side, the one that stuck, is cooler than the driver's side. Also the driver's side does sweep the rotor to the edge, so there is a possibility I didn't get the outer pad perfectly in place on the passenger side. After comparing old/new pads, I thought it was just that the new pads weren't quite as wide, but if the driver's side is sweeping to the edge, that can't be it. I did go out this morning and buy a 7mm Allen socket so I can pull the pins. It probably has some air in it too, still, so I'll take care of that too.

That’s great, thank you for the links! Of course, the bolt wasn’t stripped: the lower radiator chips had disintegrated and were just spinning. One popped out easily, while the other required grinding of the bolt without damaging the AC condenser.

The two vertical support (M8?) bolts are shot and had a good time spinning in place. How’d you get them out? I don’t mind using the grinder, but that seems like too tight a fit.

Hoping to find replacement clips and as many new screws and fasteners as I can find.

On the plus side, I did manage to run radiator cleaner through the system, which was probably overdue, as the radiator (Volvo/Valeo branded) appears to have been original.

I can't remember if they were regular nuts on top or some awkward shape (which they always are once corroded, but either way...) but you might be able to fit a twist style extractor socket over it.

Is that like one of those “Gator” multi-size sockets? I almost got one today.

The Gator is the socket that looks like a spark plug socket filled with pins, right?

I think he's talking about something like this: www.amazon.com/IRWIN-HANSON-BOLT-GRIP-E ... B0000CCXVZ

I picked this one as an example, I have no idea if this particular set is any good.

Those m8 radiator ear bolts are nasty I’ve had to drill them out on s couple of cars. There is a welded in nut thst likes to break loose and then just spin. I replace with SS m6 bolts, washers , and lock nuts; installed with verve and élan.

Yes, these sockets. I have this Irwin set, and they're very good.
