Hope you weathered the storms ok. I think the turbo is the same 98-00. Check the end play while you have it out.

Greetings. All good. Thanks . If I remove the studs that connect the unit that opens and closes the waste gate , and remove it. Do I really need to remove the turbo to drop the exhaust manifold ? Double nutted the studs and they backed out easily.
Thought that if I could remove the pin in the waste gate arm and disconnect the connector to turbo , I could avoid pulling turbo unit. Leaving only to replace gaskets. This unit seems to be only held in place by three studs to exhaust side , and four on engine side ( 2 up 2 down). Two studs bolted to block for supprt. Sorry that I can't find a part name for the unit in question.

Greetings. Head installed. Just found crank timing marks. While looking down from top of engine, I noticed that there is a raised notch on the crank pulley. This raised notch lines up directly between timing marks. I used white out to mark. I did this due to lack of space to pull wheel. Also, helps my helper ( my wife ) see timing marks. Hopes this may help others.

Remember you have to preload the cam pulley with CVVT on your 2000 T5...

Greetings. Thanks for reply. Just dealing with TB kit issue now. INA kit belt is too thin for me. Bought it thinking belt was sturdy with good roller and tensioner. Can't trust it. Online suppliers have it on order. 2-3 days to ship. Local belt cost $79. Kit $240. Time is a issue.

Greetings. I'll install my Aisin WP this weekend while waiting for my Conti belt to arrive.
Also, does anyone know the size of the two bolts that go into that PITA water line on the back of the head ? If I ever do another head job, I'll just use studs and nuts to replace them. That way I could install them like exhaust manifold studs. Add gasket . Align when head is put in place. Install nuts.

You may be referring to the Turbo exhaust flange.

Will it have to be preloaded if the hub was left together?
