Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Oh almost forgot, i started the car today first time in a few days now and it started fast. The starter turned over fast. That is because the solar panel has been helping to keep the battery charged. I also measured the current and the voltage drop and found out that the OBDII wiring must be around #22 AWG and not #16 as i had hoped. I bought my own wire though and am going to finally install my own power line into the car interior.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Doing that much work out in the driveway - rain or not - is quite the accomplishment, ; I was offering some lighthearted encouragement on your impressive progress. Dr. Abscate is famous for working in the driveway in foul weather, so I expected him to award some sort of (imaginary) award.

Finally back in Delaware, and reluctantly tackled a long-delayed chore.
But on the positive side of the equation, my luck held again, I still haven't had to drill one out - but this one was a near thing.
All the usual tricks at first, days went by, and finally an emulsion of acetone/ATF and it yielded.

I believe intake manifold bolts are good replacements for those torx ( if you wanted to stay Volvo )
I seem to have quite a few, due to junkyard visits.

When I tilted them very much to the side on both my Honda and volvo, they dont work right. I HIGHLY recommend buying Wolo low tone and/or high tone horn to replace those farts and I know exactly what sound you are talking about. Actually, how do you know what an old Polynesian woman farting sounds like?![]()

Actually it's a by-product of a creative writing class back in college. If you sound more colorful it makes it a little nicer to read.

What did I do today? Good question. I am mad, excited, and disappointed. For the last 1.5 hours, I haver been figuring out the issue with the horn on my car. Only rarely worked and was told the symptoms pointed to bad clockspring. Installed new one tonight. Still not working. Swapped 960 wheel for the s70 donor wheel. Still didnt work. I was mad. Then I wondered whether there was a fuse for the horn.
*face slap* OF COURSE THERE IS DUMMY!
So now Im mad that i made this stupid mistake. And excited that my car is now legal to be on the road. But I am disappointed because the single Wolo low tone sounds almost like a goose honking. I think i need to scrap the afm horn wires that i fabricated because they might be too thin to provide enough power.
Edit: in my mask of madness, I thought too fast and typed as such. The issued was the blown fuse. That is why my horn didn't work.

Fret not. In only 1.5 hours you have learned the difference between the internet and troubleshooting.CIK7 wrote: ↑15 Feb 2023, 19:53 What did I do today? Good question. Anything electrical, you start troubleshooting at the far end of the circuit and work backwards.
So , first test, is there 12 volts at the horn? Then you trace the wire back to its next connector. Is there 12 volts there?
And so on…….

If you buy the Volvo thermostat you get two new ones. I’m not sure if they are m6,7, or 8
Intake bolts are m7
986228 FCP shows this for -1998 ? Is this another bastard?
Sveedy is correct
Mounts the Housing cover the thermostat outlet, will require 2 for housing cover and 3 for thermostat outlet. M7x1.00x30mm

Oh great, yours made me laugh too and i love comedy.
I was wondering why the sour mood and then i read your next reply. I am wondering if what you are hearing is normal for this car because mine sounds the same and im pretty sure it's wired ok. Your description of it is pretty good too ... like a goose.
Mine sounds like a pregnant goose with a sore throat and a bad leg in a hurry to get across the road before that Mack truck tandem rig runs her over
So there may be nothing wrong with the wiring
