2000 S70 - Question about A/C compressor shim fix

The AC compressor needs to cycle to stop the evap from freezing under cool weather conditions. Welding the clutch would prevent that and probably also wear out the compressor prematurely, too.

A very wise man once suggested zip ties to fix the clutch gap.

Just tried the zip tie fix. Added some AC Pro. I now have some cold air coming out. Haven't had that in years.

Used 4" zip ties. The larger size I tried first, 8", made the clutch gap too small and were really hard to get in.

I did this a month or so ago and it works as it should. Please make sure you glue them in. My first time I didn't and they were flung out during the first cycle of the AC unit. Lol
