Went out for coffee (as usual), but stopped by the carwash to get the S70 clean-ish for the week, and get the bird poop off the passenger-side door window.

I ran the 850 through the carwash on Sunday. (also with coffee)

I've purchased a non-aerosol spray bottle of RainX. I haven't had a chance to apply it yet. It's supposed to be the original formula, but we'll see. The aerosol version did not bead water the way the stuff I bought in the past did.

Well another wasted trip to a junkyard. This yard had a 98 S70 in silver listed, which is actually a 97 850 in green (can't see how they got those mixed up??). Took the opportunity to drop by while running another errand nearby, to find the car was not there and they had not updated their website............! Seems I am destined to not see an 850 for parts identifying. I know the 3rd yard had one, but had not checked before I left, and too far to go on a chance!

Only positive thing today is that I got notice from DeWalt/Stanley that my replacement 3/8" drive torque wrench is due tomorrow. Long story, but bought this and love it as the head is fairly flat allowing access where my 1/2" and other 3/8" torque wrenches don't. Problem is all the numbers for setting it are rubbing off. Poor design where they stencil the numbers on to plastic. Tool has not been heavily used and I don't use chemicals on it to clean. I contacted them in the hope I could have it repaired or I could get a replacement part. I have had the wrench for 5 years. I didn't hear anything for a while and then out of the blue I got an e-mail apologizing for the issue and they are sending a replacement FOC! Now that is a company that stands behind it's product!

Ok, back to cataloguing!

Well clearly there is a conspiracy going on! In the last week, all 4 of the 850's in the 3 local yards have been removed and crushed. Someone is trying to prevent me sorting parts out on the 850's!

Purchased tires for the 00 S70. It's suppose to use 205/50/16 but the rims are from the 07 S60 2.5T and came with 205/55/16. They barely rub the inner fender liner so staying with the 55 series. Hope the new struts will increase the height and help with the rubbing or I will install some 10mm spacers.

Purchased an OBX S70 round strut brace. The OBX 850 brace is also on sale. The 850 brace is suppose to be for RHD but I'm unable to tell the difference. According to another forum member only a little adjustment is needed. He provided 2 photos and reference. Shipping is $22.10.

Changing struts will have zero effect on ride height unless the spring perch is mounted differently, i.e. unless you purposely buy a non-standard strut. Ride height is entirely determined by the coil springs (and the location of the spring perch on the strut).
