Fuel line hose

Post by Sveedy »

Today when I was driving the car, I noticed a strong smell of raw gas. Opened the hood and saw a good size drip coming from the 90* rubber hose between the fuel line and the FPR. I undid the hose clamp, slid it down a little and tightened it back up. No more leak. For now.
I went to find a replacement hose on volvopartswebstore, but didn't see it.
Is that hose NLA ? Looks like a tight bend to do with "off the roll" fuel hose.

Edit - FPR, not fuel rail.

I have replaced that hose before, two different ways both with standard fuel line:
- formed a larger loop to minimize chance of kinking
- just put it in with a 90 degree angle, matched to the curvature of the hose as it came off the reel

Both are holding up. I'll ty to get a pic of the 95 and see what is in there.

^ Yeah I'll bite. You can keep all of those p.o.s. They might be fast and fine in a factory setting, but I have had too many experiences on the side of the road with a torn hose ( not due to the clamp ) where simply loosening the clamp, cutting or readjusting the hose, and retightening the clamp has solved the problem. Just like this time. Less than 2min with a 4 way screwdriver, and I'm back on track.
No special tools or non reusable clamps needed. :)

This is the 95, it's been on there a while. Notice the (non-Oetiker) clamp I slid over to near the bend as insurance against a possible kink. And the zip tie (gasp!) I installed in its place!

I always replace all the factory clamps with Stainless Steel double bolt band clamps made from recycled Chernobyl plant fuel rods. They never rust and are easy to see in the dark. My source now insists on payment in Rubles.
By the way, the Ruble is now worth 2 USA cents.
