Hello,
I recall that when I unlocked my car with the key fob at night, the puddle lights on the mirrors would turn on to light up the ground. But now they only light up manually when the yellow button on the key fob is pressed.
I have looked for this issue online, but the forum posts I've read say that the mirror lights only come on with the yellow button. But I swear those lights used to automatically turn on for me when the car was unlocked. I have not used the yellow button much, and I recall the mirror lights turning on many times, so it had to be automatic.
We recently had a new battery installed. Could that have reset some setting? Is there instructions on how to make the puddle lights automatic again? I couldn't find much when I glanced through the car's manual. Thank you.

On that note. Has anyone seen a good guide for replacing puddle light bulbs? Last time I attempted it I broke the mirror glass and vowed not to attempt it again.

Thanks for your input guys. I think this may be an issue with the VIDA software, then. I am 90% sure the mirror lights used to come on with the unlock button.
I don't care about it much, as I assume changing the option costs money for a software upgrade. (I wish that Volvo had designed a way to change the car's options without a software upgrade, like GM vehicles would with a combination of ignition switch positions and door lock button). But I can live without it, so it's not worth paying for.

get vida set up on a lap top and do it yourself.
If you have a laptop you can buy vida on a thumb drive, then you just need the interface.
Theres a vida forum here.

I thought about it. Check your owner's manual under Approach Lighting for instructions. If the system is changeable at owner's request for your model it will be stated. Ie. Daytime Running Lights for my model could be switched off at the customer's request. This was accomplished by a dealer Running a software upload back in 04. My car is a 04 model. My 04 manual states Approach Lighting is operational via yellow button with no mention of alternatives. June
