1997 V70 subwoofer & amplifier installation

Post by woodhead »

Does anyone have any pictures or tutorials on how to install a subwoofer & amplifier in a 1997 (mk1) Volvo V70? I think I only found 1 hole to run the power cable from the engine compartment to the cabin, but it's in a damn tight spot. My hand doesn't fit there and none of my tools fit so I can't cut a hole into cable bushing.

Not my car but pretty similar:

I ran the power cable for my fuel pump on the driver (LHD) side, there's a grommet with spare holes (you need to cut the "cap" to use them). You can undo the 2 shock nuts holding the fuse box and remove the airbox to get some room, cant exactly remember how much I had to take off.

It then runs under the dash and in the conduit under the carpet on the driver side to the boot

edit: checked on the car and i actually used this piece of tubing that's already going through the firewall, I'm mixing up things with the cruise control install on a 940

Do I have to cut it or will it come off? I seem to recall seeing this suggested in the past, but I recall the last time I checked there was already some wire coming through the cap so I gave up on this one.

Yep one of those, there should be at least one spare unless some aftermarket stuff has already been wired

I have to recheck that one tomorrow. I have no idea what has been installed but a thin wire if I recall correctly comes through the cap and goes somewhere but not to the battery.
