Hi everyone,

Recently I have been getting a 3rd shift gear ratio code and the transmission free spinning in third on cold starts. After clearing the code I seem to have no issues for the rest of the day. I am planning to do the pnp and perhaps the transmission speed sensor as I know my pnp is bad and saw the speed sensor on another post. Looking for advice as the body is rust free and used cars are expensive.

Wanted to add that 3 drain and fills have been done and the last drain was a darker red but clean. I’ll look into replacing shift solenoids if it is just that.

Code was gear 3 ratio incorrect which came up once a month ago and then yesterday and today. Resetting seems to solve the issues. Transmission seems to slip into neutral on third gear at around 2500-3000 rpm’s. also notice shifts on economy happening at close to 3000 rpm’s when I swear it used to Halle. At 2500 rpm’s.

Fluid was at the low end, I suspect when I drained the transmission that other areas had air in it and now showed a lower leve. Filled to proper spec and drove home. On economy mode my shifts into third at 60-80 kmh were at 3200 rpm. This seems pretty high from my memory and I was wondering if others could post the rpm’s there cars shift at. This was under 25-30 percent throttle on flat grades.

Issues persist,

on a cold start it appears that the car does not want to shift from second to third at 60 kmh. It slips into neutral and will not engage. Interestingly enough no codes are thrown here, no odd sounds are heard, and when overrevved in neutral it sometimes catches the gear and keeps on trucking.

I am bringing to my indy wednesday to get a prognosis. I might use some lucas transmission fix as it has had good reviews depending on what my mechanic says.

I have a source for 400 which seems high for a pre 200km transmission
