My 94 T5M and the 93 NA 20V manual I parted out for the manual swap of my 96 R have a brake light switch that thread into the bracket and have 2 wires to it.
The brake pedal switch on my 96 AT has a different switch bracket and a brake light switch that bolts into the brackes and has a yellow connector woth 4 pins.
What are the extra pins for? Do they give a signal to the Transmission module so you can't burn up the converter while stepping on the gas and brake peadal simultaneoisly?
And most importan: can I use the 2 pin switch on the 3 pedal unit for the manual swap of my 96?

I replaced mine on my 86 850 NA last year, when cruise stopped dis-engagingly easily, and then someone told me my brake lights weren't coming on. It's a two circuit switch, and one circuit appears to be for the lights, and the other for the shift interlock. When I removed the old switch, but still drove the car for a day or so to work, I had to use the shift interlock bypass button in order to get out of park.
I think my switch just snapped into place.

Confirming -
Automatics have an extra set of contacts for
the shift lever interface release solenoid.
If you don't depress the brake pedal,
the car won't let you shift out of Park.
You should be Good to Go for a stick!

update:
I found a wiring diagram. red yellow are brake light, green and blue/yellow are the shift interlock.
