random throttle fail while driving, 2003 Volvo V70 base wagon 2.4l, 285,345

The continuing saga.

Random throttle fail while driving = any speed it suddenly drops to idle, 7 to 100 seconds it begins functioning again.
2003 Volvo V70 base wagon 2.4l, 285,345 miles on the car, 90% interstate highway.

No codes.
My first assumption is a failing TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).

Here is my first thread with more general repair history.

Your car has a throttle body. Probably a Bosch, that has failure symptoms like yours.

After your car being off, turn it to POS2, after about 30 seconds you should hear the butterfly valve and the actuator "find itself".

You should have trouble codes thrown.

You need to get vida , trying to do this by guessing is like driving around L.A. without a map and saying the freeways don't make sense.

Theres a known problem with the ETM plug, if you disconnected it to clean the throttle it can prove to be trouble getting a clean connection again , some dealers swap it out automatically to prevent come backs.

I wouldn't spend another penny on parts without scanning the codes.

If you have an old laptop with 4MB ram you can buy vida on a usb thumb drive, all you need then is a JR/mongoose interface and you're in business.

Thank you
Monitor your fuel pressure while this failure occurs. This is a common experience to PEM or fuel pressure sensor failure

It has a new fuel pump and PEM.
Fuel pressure was monitored during test drive, with no variation.

Thank you.

Dismounted, opened, inspected, reassembled, and cleaned the ETM.

Here are the housing numbers.
ETM
8677796 020806
800600210
01786 japan
8002

Interesting, I will closely inspect the connector for issues.
After I reinstall the ETM I will recheck codes.

Inspected the ETM connector, no issues found.
ETM installed, cleared codes P0300, P0137 three times in half hour, they come back.

Thank you
