Hello everyone,
The big day has arrived. Today is the day I sit the exam for my diploma as a car mechanic at the local technical college.
I've chosen the outfit for the occasion...
I've worked hard on my courses throughout the year, with an overall average of 17.60 out of 20. Of course, it's still correspondence theory, but the research I've done to document my homework and my practice on my 850 represent a real work of understanding.
I called the school yesterday, where they explained to me that in the morning, there's a test to prepare for an intervention on a vehicle, how it's organized, and in the afternoon, they draw a subject at random (replacing brake pads, shock absorbers, looking for an electrical fault, right up to replacing a timing belt (which I've only done once in my life)).
Well, I'm confident in myself, I've done my homework and I'll deal with any problems as best I can.
One last word to all of you who have given me so much good advice to help me repair my car. Thanks guys, I owe you a lot!
Manov

Great choice of shirt. It translates well to any language. Best of luck.

I hope it went well for you. I still have various automotive books from my time at a community College, '79 to '81. (I'm old)

Hy MVS Gentlemen !
Ha ha, MVS Home sweet home ! Thanks to you all... Everything was find. I' decided to do my best, and if i didn't know ,better to say it.
Beginning : 8 o'clock AM.
First 4 hours: how to prepare to work on a car, i was expected to find an issue with the starter. I did it, it was the "solenoid" which was out of order... + some texts to write to answer to some questions on mechanicals issues in general. Finished in 2h30 hours.
The jury proposed me to continue directly with the mechanical operation : replace brakes and brakes pads on a RENAULT from 2000, and then, write how I did it and what i've done (on my list i've forgotten to mention a brake fluid bottle)...
How cool it is to be taken seriously by someone about your work. The meaning of the "work" does escape to most of managers nowadays... I've finished this first part at 10h30.
I've used 1:30 hour to replace disks and pads; i had to fight with rust bolts (wasn't expected), while i was explaining what - why - how manov's method during the job. But i consider to have taken too much time (whenever it wasn't a race, but...and a lot of questions about my 850, why this car, what did i've already done, MVS main information sources in english...).
I've taken the opportunity to ask some mechanicals questions by the way. A big garage, Guys, tools fantastics ones eveywhere, space to work... heaven for Manov !
We were 27 persons to present the exam. But the jury decided to receive the Fantastic 4 at first ! 3 guys like me, to have worked on their side during a year... Everything was find to all of us.
The jury told me that to receive guys like us, passionned by the mechanic was a fresh air bowl to them.
I get back home, had a shower a get to bed ... !
Summer is back again. I will work on my 850 when i will have finished my 500 cm3 motorcycle driving license test... Then 2 yaers with a motorcyle less than '47,5 HP. And in 2 years... this :
i will have waited to be 60 yo to get this amazing bike...
Crazy life !
Once again, Thanks to you all guys !
